Gemini costs $0, $4.99, $19.99, $99.99 or $199.99 a month in the US, depending on which Google AI plan you buy. I took those prices from Google's own plan pages on 14 October 2026, in US dollars, billed monthly.
The paid tiers are Google AI Plus, Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra, which comes in two sizes. Google sells them as "Google AI plans" on gemini.google and on Google One's one.google.com, and each includes cloud storage, from 400 GB on Plus to 30 TB on the larger Ultra.
Same prices, different plans.
No price moved between my reads on 12 and 14 October. What changed is what the money buys: on 13 October Google launched Gemini 4 Argon for AI Pro and AI Ultra, and by the next day its pages showed AI Plus without Google's Pro model. If Gemini is one of several assistants on your list, our guide to AI assistants for work prices the others.
Gemini pricing in six lines (October 2026)
- Four paid tiers, monthly prices only. In the US on 14 October 2026: Google AI Plus $4.99, AI Pro $19.99, and AI Ultra $99.99 (5x AI Pro's limits) or $199.99 (20x). No Google plan page showed an annual price.
- Google sells multipliers and publishes no message counts. Limits are compute-based and refresh every 5 hours until you hit a weekly limit; Plus gets 2x Free's usage and Pro 4x.
- Pro is the default buy. At $19.99 it is the cheapest plan whose card lists Gemini 4 Argon and Google's Pro model, plus 5 TB, Gemini in Docs, Jules and YouTube Premium Lite.
- Plus is now sold as a Flash plan. Google's help article, read 14 October 2026, shows AI Plus without the Pro model and says existing subscribers "should receive an email" with their switch date.
- Eligible US college students get AI Pro free for a year if they redeem by 31 December 2026. After that it costs $19.99 a month unless they cancel.
- Teams buy Gemini Enterprise, from $21 a seat a month.
How I read the prices
I read Google's two plan pages on 12 October 2026 and again on 14 October, the day after the Argon launch. For gemini.google that meant a US connection and the page's own "United States" region link; for Google One, the /intl/en_us/ page, which serves US dollars. Every dollar price matched across every load on both days.
Location changes the page. From an Indian connection the bare gemini.google address shows rupees, and on 12 October it showed a different student deal too, so every figure here is the US price.
Gemini plans at a glance
Five ways to pay, read on 14 October 2026. The usage and model wording is Google's; the last column is my read of who each plan suits.

| Plan | Monthly price (US) | Annual price | Usage, as Google states it | Models on the card | Storage | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Not shown | "Standard limits" | "Access to our Flash-Lite model"; Auto by default | 15 GB | Occasional questions |
| Google AI Plus | $4.99 | Not shown | "2x higher usage access than Free" | "Access to our Flash model" | 400 GB | Daily Flash use, with family sharing |
| Google AI Pro | $19.99 | Not shown | "4x higher usage access than Free" | Gemini 4 Argon, "our Pro model", "our Flash model" | 5 TB | Most people who pay |
| Google AI Ultra 5x | $99.99 | Not shown | "5x higher usage limits vs. AI Pro" | Gemini 4 Argon, "Highest access to our Pro model" | 20 TB | People who hit Pro's weekly limit |
| Google AI Ultra 20x | $199.99 | Not shown | "20x higher usage limits vs. AI Pro" | Same as Ultra 5x | 30 TB | People who hit Ultra 5x's limit too |
Prices and card wording from gemini.google/us/subscriptions and the one.google.com/intl/en_us comparison table, read 14 October 2026, in US dollars per month. "Standard limits" is the help article's term for Free. Ultra storage comes from the one.google.com table; the Ultra card says "Cloud storage starting at 20 TB". The last column is mine.
One cell needs a footnote. The one.google.com table lists Plus storage as "400 GB or 2 TB" and shows no price for a 2 TB version, while the Plus card says 400 GB. I use 400 GB.
The paid plans share one set of terms. They are "available for over 18 users" with "a personal Google Account that you manage on your own", and the footer reads: "Cancel anytime. No refunds for partial billing periods, except as required by applicable law."
How Gemini usage limits work
The plans page puts the whole rule in one footnote: "For the Gemini app, compute-based usage limits factor in the complexity of your prompt, the features you use, and the length of your chat. Your limit refreshes every 5 hours until you reach your weekly limit. You can extend your limits by purchasing AI credits." Google prints no price for those AI credits, on the plans page or in the help article the footnote points to.
Google publishes multipliers and no message counts
Every paid tier is defined against another tier. Google's help article "Changes to Gemini model access and limits" sets out the table: "Without a plan: Standard limits", "AI Plus: 2x higher than standard limits", "AI Pro: 4x higher than standard limits" and "AI Ultra: 5x or 20x higher than AI Pro depending on your subscription". Standard limits have no published size, so no multiplier turns into a count of prompts.
What you ask for matters too. The article says "Premium models and features require more usage and may cause you to reach your limit faster", listing media generation, Deep Research, the Pro model and extended thinking. These compute-based limits started on 17 May 2026 for users over 18.
A multiplier is not a message count. "4x" means four times a free allowance that Google gives no size, and two people on the same Pro plan can reach the weekly limit at very different points, depending on how much video, Deep Research and Pro-model work they ask for.
Free accounts now send most prompts to Flash-Lite
From 9 October 2026, Google began moving Gemini accounts without a plan to a default called "Auto". Google's help article, read 14 October 2026: "Gemini will use auto model selection to send each prompt to the Gemini model that suits it best. Most prompts will go to Flash-Lite, our fastest model. Prompts that need deeper reasoning may go to Flash or Pro."
The Free card itself lists "Access to our Flash-Lite model", image generation and editing, Deep Research, Gemini Live, Canvas, Gems and 15 GB of storage.
By my arithmetic, Google's multipliers price an allowance at $2.50 or $5
Google stops at the multipliers, so I chained them. Ultra is stated against Pro and Pro against Free, which makes Ultra 5x worth 20 free-sized allowances and Ultra 20x worth 80. Divide each price by its count and you get the monthly price of one allowance.
| Plan | Price a month (US, October 2026) | Usage, as Google states it | Free-sized allowances (my arithmetic) | Price per allowance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Standard limits | 1 | n/a |
| Google AI Plus | $4.99 | 2x Free | 2 | $2.50 |
| Google AI Pro | $19.99 | 4x Free | 4 | $5.00 |
| Google AI Ultra 5x | $99.99 | 5x AI Pro | 20 | $5.00 |
| Google AI Ultra 20x | $199.99 | 20x AI Pro | 80 | $2.50 |
My arithmetic on Google's US prices and stated multipliers, read 14 October 2026, rounded to the cent. The free allowance has no published size, so this ranks the plans against each other and converts into no prompt count.
The cheapest paid plan and the most expensive one charge the same rate, to the cent, and the two in the middle charge double. As upgrades at October 2026 prices, Plus to Pro costs $15 more for two extra allowances, or $7.50 each. Pro to Ultra 5x costs $80 more for sixteen, $5 each, and Ultra 5x to Ultra 20x costs $100 more for sixty, about $1.67 each.
Before you call Plus the bargain: on Google's 14 October pages, Plus spends its allowance on Flash models alone, while Pro and Ultra add the Pro model and Argon, and premium models drain an allowance faster. An allowance on Plus and one on Ultra buy different work. The weekly limits behind every row have no published size either.
Google AI Plus: $4.99 a month, now a Flash plan

Plus costs $4.99 a month in the US as of 14 October 2026 and gives "2x higher usage access than Free". Its gemini.google card now reads "Access to our Flash model"; on 12 October the same card also listed Google's Pro model. The help article shows AI Plus with Flash-Lite and Flash ticked and Pro crossed out, and the one.google.com table crosses out Plus on three rows: "Access to Gemini 4 Argon", "Access to our Pro models" and "Tasks in Gemini".
The timing depends on the subscriber: "For users with an AI Plus subscription, you should receive an email that explains when these changes will take effect for you." None of the Google pages I read on 14 October 2026 gave a date, so an existing subscriber's switch date is whatever that email says.
The rest of the card stands: "more features like video generation and Daily Brief", 200 Google Flow Credits, more Audio Overviews in Gemini Notebook, "Gemini in Gmail, Vids, and more" and 400 GB of storage. The one.google.com card adds: "Family sharing with up to five others."
Google AI Pro: $19.99 a month, the default buy
Pro costs $19.99 a month in the US as of 14 October 2026, with "4x higher usage access than Free". Since 13 October it is also the cheapest plan with Gemini 4 Argon, "our frontier model for complex tasks" in Google's release notes. The same note says Argon "is rolling out globally for Google AI Pro & Ultra subscribers in the Gemini app"; one.google.com still said "select countries" on 14 October, so check that the Pro card for your country lists Argon before you pay.
The gemini.google card lists "Access to Gemini 4 Argon", "Access to our Pro model" and "Access to our Flash model", and its Search line now reads "Higher access to Gemini 4 Argon, Nano Banana, agentic capabilities, and more." The FAQ adds "a 1M token context window" and "a limited trial of Veo 3.1 Lite".

The extra $15 over Plus buys the Pro model, Argon and 5 TB
Here are the two cards side by side, in Google's words from 14 October 2026.
| As of 14 October 2026 | Google AI Plus, $4.99 a month | Google AI Pro, $19.99 a month |
|---|---|---|
| Usage | 2x Free | 4x Free |
| Models on the gemini.google card | "our Flash model" | Gemini 4 Argon, "our Pro model", "our Flash model" |
| Storage | 400 GB | 5 TB |
| Google Flow Credits | 200 | 1,000 |
| Gemini in Google apps | "Gemini in Gmail, Vids, and more" | "Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Vids, and more" |
| Coding | Not on the card | Jules, "Higher limits to our asynchronous coding agent"; Google Antigravity, "Entry rate limits to agent model" |
| Tasks in Gemini (one.google.com) | No | Yes, in "select countries and languages" |
| Family | "Family sharing with up to five others" | Family plan members "can enjoy AI benefits and features at no extra cost" |
| Extras | Not on the card | Chrome auto browse, YouTube Premium Lite, Google Home Premium (Standard plan), $10 a month in Google Cloud credits |
Card wording from gemini.google/us/subscriptions and one.google.com/intl/en_us/about/google-ai-plans, read 14 October 2026. The Tasks, family and Google Cloud rows come from one.google.com.
Per allowance, this is the priciest step on the ladder: $7.50 for each extra free-sized allowance. The same $15 also buys things that are not usage at all: the Pro model and Argon, 5 TB instead of 400 GB, Docs, Jules, and the YouTube and Home extras. Need none of them? Stay on Plus.
Google AI Ultra: $99.99 or $199.99 a month
Ultra is one plan at two prices, as of 14 October 2026. The card opens with "Starting at: $99.99/ month", then splits into "$99.99/ month: 5x higher usage limits vs. AI Pro" and "$199.99 / month: 20x higher usage limits vs. AI Pro".
- Storage
- 20 TB or 30 TB, per the one.google.com table.
- Google Cloud credits
- "$40 monthly credits" on Ultra 5x, "$100 monthly credits" on Ultra 20x.
- Google Flow Credits
- "10,000 or 25,000".
- Ultra only
- Project Genie, "Only available with a Google AI Ultra plan".
Everything in Pro carries over, Gemini 4 Argon included, and three perks grow. YouTube Premium Lite becomes the "YouTube Premium individual plan", Google Home Premium moves up to the Advanced plan, and Google Antigravity gets "Higher rate limits" on Ultra 5x and "Highest rate limits" on Ultra 20x.
The card's headline perk changed between my reads on 12 and 14 October 2026. It now offers "first access to advanced features like Tasks in Gemini (in select countries)", yet one.google.com ticks Tasks for Pro as well.
Google's naming team has had a busy year. Its pages use four agent names, and nothing on them says the four are one product: Tasks in Gemini on Pro and Ultra, "Gemini Agent (US only, English only)" on the one.google.com Ultra card, "Agent Mode" in the gemini.google Ultra FAQ, and the Gemini agent from Google Cloud's 8 October post. None had a price of its own on the pages I read. For the wider agent story, see what Google I/O 2026 means for AI agents.
Gemini student pricing: Google AI Pro free for a year in the US
Eligible US college students can get Google AI Pro free for a year, as of 14 October 2026. The offer left the plans pages between 12 and 14 October 2026: the student banner on gemini.google and the student block on one.google.com are gone, and the terms sit on gemini.google/students and the Offer Terms page it links to.
The student page's FAQ is precise: "The free Google AI Pro student offer is available to eligible U.S. college students ages 18+. Both new users and students whose 2025 AI Pro trial has expired can qualify. Eligibility must be verified each year to maintain access." The Offer Terms, last updated 19 August 2026, name SheerID as the verification service, and the two pages set four conditions that catch people out:
- A deadline. The offer "must be redeemed by December 31, 2026."
- A card at sign-up: "Valid form of payment required at sign-up."
- A personal account, because the offer "is not available on your school-issued Workspace for Education account."
- No family groups. The terms exclude anyone "part of a family group" and anyone who gets Google One through a third party such as Google Fi. Enterprise purchasers and discounted Pixel bundle subscribers are out too.
Then the bill, per the student page on 14 October 2026: "Unless cancelled earlier, Google AI Pro will automatically charge $19.99/month after the trial ends."
On the day you redeem, set a calendar reminder for month eleven.
The student page also lists 4x usage limits, 5 TB of storage, Gemini Spark and Gemini Omni for the year. It was the only Google page I read on 14 October 2026 that mentioned Spark; neither plans page listed Spark for any paid tier.
For which study tools earn a subscription at all, see which AI study assistant is worth paying for. Outside the US the plan differs: the terms say the plan "depends on the country or region of your eligible higher education institution".
Gemini for business: Gemini Enterprise from $21 a seat

Teams buy a different product. The Business tab on gemini.google, read 14 October 2026, lists two Gemini Enterprise cards: the Business edition at "Starting at: $21 USD per seat per month" for "Up to 300 seats", with a "Start a trial" button, and the Standard and Plus editions at "Starting at: $30 USD per seat per month" with "Unlimited seats" and "Contact sales". Pooled storage and data indexing runs 25 GiB a seat on Business and up to 75 GiB on the others.
The pitch is agent work, "Build custom agents with our no-code Workflow Builder" and "Automate workflows with prebuilt Google-made agents", with connectors to Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, HubSpot, Jira and more. The FAQ says your data "isn't used to train Google models".
Workspace customers buy a Gemini add-on instead
Google AI plans are personal: "Only personal Google Accounts can sign up for Google AI plans. Workspace customers can sign up for a Gemini add-on to their existing subscription." Google Workspace's pricing page showed only rupees from an Indian connection on every load on 12 and 14 October 2026, so this post quotes no Workspace price. If your team's AI lives in another workspace tool, our Notion AI pricing explainer covers how Notion charges for it.
Google had not priced the Gemini agent by 14 October 2026
Google announced the Gemini agent on 8 October 2026. Its Google Cloud post says "You can assign it work, schedule tasks that need to be completed, or have it respond to events", and that a coworker agent gets its own Workspace account. Our breakdown of what Gemini Spark and the Gemini agent do covers the capabilities. Google had not published a price or an availability date for it as of 14 October 2026.
Gemini API pricing is a different product
Building on Gemini has its own price list. The Developer tab on gemini.google says Google AI Studio is "No cost to start" and the Gemini platform is "Pay by usage", and ai.google.dev/pricing redirects to Google's Gemini Developer API pricing page, with a Free Tier and a Paid Tier "per 1M tokens in USD".
I quote no API rates here; that page is where to read them. For what agent platforms charge, our AI agent pricing index checks sixteen of them monthly.
Which Gemini plan should you pick?
Start from the week you actually have. Prices are US, as of October 2026.
Occasional questions: Free. $0 covers Deep Research, Gemini Live, Canvas and 15 GB, with Auto sending most prompts to Flash-Lite. If the five-hour refresh never stops you, stay.
Daily use on Flash, with family sharing: Google AI Plus. $4.99 doubles the free allowance, raises storage to 400 GB and adds "Family sharing with up to five others". Skip it if you want the Pro model, which Google's help article no longer lists for Plus.
You want Argon, the Pro model, Docs or 5 TB: Google AI Pro. $19.99 is the default for anyone in Gemini most days, and it adds Jules and Chrome auto browse. If you are unsure, start here.
Pro's weekly limit stops you most weeks: Google AI Ultra 5x. $99.99 buys five times Pro's limits, 20 TB and Project Genie. Give it a month before you look at Ultra 20x: $199.99 buys four times Ultra 5x's limits for twice the price, plus 30 TB, and per allowance it matches Plus.
A US college student should take the free year: redeem by 31 December 2026, and note the day it turns into $19.99 a month.
A team: Gemini Enterprise or the Workspace add-on. The Business edition starts at $21 a seat for up to 300 seats.

If what you want is recurring work done, say a Monday summary of your inbox or a weekly report you currently assemble by hand, rather than a better chat window, a chat subscription is the wrong shape. Gravity is an AI agent platform: you describe the job, an expert-built agent runs it, and it can repeat on a schedule. It does not give you Gemini chat or Google's models. Basic is free with one agent and no card, and Pro is $5 a month during the beta, as of October 2026. Gravity is in public beta: Explore agents.
FAQ
1. Is Gemini free?
Yes. The Free plan costs $0 "with a Google Account" and includes Deep Research, Gemini Live, Canvas, Gems and 15 GB of storage, as of 14 October 2026. From 9 October, Google began moving free accounts to "Auto", which sends most prompts to its Flash-Lite model.
2. How much is Google AI Pro?
Google AI Pro costs $19.99 a month in the US, per Google's plan pages on 14 October 2026. It gives four times the free tier's usage, Gemini 4 Argon, Google's Pro model and 5 TB of storage. The plan pages show a monthly price only.
3. What is the difference between Google AI Ultra at $99.99 and $199.99?
The $99.99 tier gives 5x AI Pro's usage limits, 20 TB of storage and $40 a month in Google Cloud credits. The $199.99 tier gives 20x, 30 TB and $100 a month, per Google's US pages on 14 October 2026. Both include Gemini 4 Argon and Project Genie.
4. Is there an annual Gemini plan?
Not on Google's plan pages. When I read them on 14 October 2026 they listed monthly prices only, and the plans page has no monthly or annual toggle. Treat any annual Gemini price you see elsewhere as unconfirmed by Google.
5. Is Google AI Pro free for students?
In the US, yes, for one year. Eligible U.S. college students aged 18 and over can redeem it until 31 December 2026 after SheerID verification, with a valid form of payment at sign-up. Unless cancelled earlier, it then charges $19.99 a month, per Google's student page on 14 October 2026, and eligibility must be verified each year.
6. Does Google AI Plus include the Pro model?
Not any more, according to Google's help article "Changes to Gemini model access and limits", read 14 October 2026. Its table shows AI Plus with Flash-Lite and Flash but not Pro. Google says existing Plus subscribers "should receive an email" saying when the change takes effect for them.
7. Is Gemini Advanced still sold?
Google's release notes for 20 May 2025 say "The Gemini Advanced name is retiring" and that the app's features and benefits "will now be part of your Google AI Pro subscription". The plans on Google's pages on 14 October 2026 are Free, Google AI Plus, Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra. Separately, the one.google.com FAQ says "The Google AI Premium plan has a new name: Google AI Plus."
