On this page

Full Notion AI starts on the Business plan: $20 a member a month billed yearly, or $24 billed monthly. Free and Plus get a limited trial. Custom Agents cost extra, in Notion credits at $10 per 1,000 a month. Those are the prices on Notion's own pages when I read every plan card and help article behind them on 14 October 2026.

The seat is the headline number. It is one layer of three.

The second layer is a usage allowance on Business that Notion measures but never sizes. The third is credits, which Custom Agents, premium models and, after their beta, Workers all spend: $10 per 1,000 on monthly billing and $13 per 1,000 on annual, as of October 2026.

For what dedicated agent platforms charge, see our AI agent pricing index.

TL;DR

Notion AI pricing in five lines (October 2026)

  1. Full Notion AI means Business. $20 a member a month billed yearly or $24 billed monthly, read 14 October 2026, with Notion Agent, AI Meeting Notes and Enterprise Search included.
  2. Free and Plus get a trial. Notion Agent, Meeting notes and Research mode are a "Limited Trial" there, and Plus costs $10 yearly or $12 monthly.
  3. Business AI has a ceiling. A usage allowance over six-hour and monthly windows, size unpublished; past it, members wait or the workspace spends credits.
  4. Custom Agents cost extra. "Free to try, then $10 per 1,000 monthly Notion credits." Notion estimates a status-update agent at about $0.08 to $0.18 a run, and annual credits cost $13 per 1,000.
  5. Enterprise is custom-priced and adds zero data retention with Notion's LLM providers.

How I read Notion's prices

I read notion.com/pricing on 12 October 2026 and again on 14 October, from a US connection and an Indian one, and clicked both billing toggles on each day. No price moved between loads or between days. Every load showed US dollars, so I quote USD only.

The page opens on yearly billing. The $10 and $20 you see first are yearly prices, so every one in this post comes with its monthly twin.

Notion's pricing page in its default Pay yearly view, read 14 October 2026, showing Free at $0, Plus at $10 and Business at $20 per member a month, Enterprise at custom pricing, and Trial of Notion AI on the Free and Plus cards.
notion.com/pricing, default Pay yearly view, read 14 October 2026.

For what the cards leave out, I read fourteen Notion help articles, the AI product page and the 13 October release notes, all on 14 October 2026.

Notion AI by plan, at a glance

Four plans, two billing states, and an AI table under the cards that says more than the cards do.

Prices per member per month in US dollars, from notion.com/pricing on 14 October 2026; the page defaults to yearly. "Not listed" means Notion's cell is blank. Plus and Enterprise carry the footnote "* Plans may not be available for every workspace."

$10 means three different things on Notion's pricing page as of October 2026: a Plus seat billed yearly, 1,000 monthly Notion credits, and a custom domain for Notion Sites billed monthly. That's a lot of tens, so when someone says "Notion AI is $10", ask which one.

Is Notion AI free?

Only as a trial. Notion's AI FAQ says "Notion AI is available on Business and Enterprise Plans" and that "Users on the Free and Plus Plans get a limited number of complimentary AI responses so they can try Notion AI features out." No Notion page I read on 14 October 2026 puts a number on that limit.

The pricing page agrees: the Free and Plus cards both read "Trial of Notion AI".

The pricing table's Meeting notes row, a "Limited Trial" on Free and Plus, clashes with the help center. The AI Meeting Notes article says "You must be on Notion's Business or Enterprise Plan to use AI Meeting Notes." Treat meeting notes as a Business feature.

So Plus, at $10 a member a month yearly or $12 monthly as of October 2026, buys a better workspace with Free's AI trial attached. The AI stays where it was.

The October pricing page sells no Notion AI add-on

Some pages ranking for Notion AI pricing on 12 October 2026 still described it as an $8 or $10 per-member add-on. The pricing page I read on 14 October 2026 lists no such thing, and the word "add-on" isn't on it. Notion's credits article uses the word for something else: credits are "an add-on for Business and Enterprise plans". Whether and when Notion withdrew the add-on those pages describe, no Notion page I read says, and I won't borrow an answer from a third-party blog. More AI than the trial means moving the workspace to Business.

Business: what $20 or $24 a member buys

Notion's pricing page with Pay monthly selected, read 14 October 2026, showing Free at $0, Plus at $12 and Business at $24 per member a month, and Enterprise at custom pricing.
notion.com/pricing with Pay monthly selected, read 14 October 2026.

Business is where Notion AI stops being a trial. As of October 2026 it costs $20 a member a month billed yearly or $24 billed monthly, under a "Recommended" badge. The card lists Notion Agent, which "Completes complex, multi-step tasks using context from Notion, your connected apps, and the web"; AI Meeting Notes, "no bot needed"; Enterprise Search (Beta); and SAML SSO. The AI table adds Research mode (Beta).

You pay per member. The pricing FAQ says "you will be charged a fee per member", and people added mid-month are prorated. The page states no seat minimum either way.

Yearly billing takes $4 a member a month off Business and $2 off Plus, as of October 2026. The toggle promises "Save up to 20% with yearly". By my arithmetic, $4 is 20% of the $20 yearly price and 16.7% of the $24 monthly price. The refund terms favor yearly too, with a full refund "within three days of signing up for monthly billing, or within 30 days of signing up for annual billing."

Five members on Business cost $100 or $120 a month

Five members, October 2026Billed yearlyBilled monthly
Plus seats (Notion AI is a trial)$50 a month, $600 a year$60 a month, $720 over 12 months
Business seats (full Notion AI)$100 a month, $1,200 a year$120 a month, $1,440 over 12 months

My arithmetic on Notion's per-member prices, read 14 October 2026; yearly totals assume the same five members all year.

The two Business columns are $240 a year apart. Credits sit on top of either, and the billing cycle you choose for seats also decides which credits you can buy.

Since 13 October, a ChatGPT plan can pay for some Notion Agent use

Notion 3.8, released on 13 October 2026, lets a member of a Business or Enterprise workspace connect a ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Go account, and then "Notion Agent can use your ChatGPT plan instead of your Notion plan" when they select a GPT model; other models fall back to the workspace's Notion plan. "This feature doesn't work with Custom Agents," and the Notion seat stays. What those ChatGPT plans cost is in our ChatGPT pricing explainer.

The usage allowance nobody prices in

Notion AI on Business has a ceiling. The help center says "Business and Enterprise plans include a usage allowance for certain Notion AI features", measured over a six-hour window and a monthly window. Your personal Notion Agent (chat included), image generation and page translation all draw on it. Three things sit outside it:

  • AI Meeting Notes, which has its own cap of 10 hours per person per day.
  • Custom Agents and Workers, which "require Notion credits".
  • Premium models, which "spend Notion credits every time you use them" and run only after a workspace owner or admin switches each one on.

No number. Notion publishes no size for either window and keeps the right to change it: "we may update how these allowances work, including the features impacted, the size of the allowances". A page quoting a fixed count of Notion AI responses on Business is quoting something Notion doesn't.

When a member uses up the allowance, the default is to wait

Out of the box, "members who use the full allowance have to wait for it to reset." An admin can flip one switch, "Allow workspace to use Notion credits after AI limit is reached", and the overflow draws on workspace credits instead. I would leave it off until you know who hits the limit. Credits are shared across the whole workspace, so one heavy member can drain the pool your Custom Agents run on.

Premium models bill outside the allowance

Notion says premium models "are designed for complex, long-running work and cost substantially more than the models included in your plan", and they exist on Business and Enterprise only. "The models that are part of your plan don't spend credits." Premium ones do, at cost: "Notion charges tokens at each provider's published rates, with no markup." Admins can "cap how many Notion credits a person or group can spend using a premium model". Set that cap the day you switch one on.

Custom Agents and Notion credits

The Custom Agents strip on Notion's pricing page, read 14 October 2026, saying agents are free to try, then $10 per 1,000 monthly Notion credits, next to the Workers beta strip.
The Custom Agents and Workers strips on notion.com/pricing, read 14 October 2026.

Custom Agents are the part of Notion AI the seat doesn't cover. The strip under the plan cards reads: "AI agents handle repetitive tasks autonomously, so your team doesn't have to. Free to try, then $10 per 1,000 monthly Notion credits." The comparison table marks them "Requires Notion credits" on Business and Enterprise, as of October 2026, and leaves Free and Plus blank.

Notion's AI page says Custom Agents started using Notion credits on 4 May 2026. Downgrade to Free or Plus and "all existing Custom Agents are switched off, but not deleted." For what Notion's Custom Agents actually do, read our Notion AI agent guide.

Notion publishes what one Custom Agent run costs

Notion's help article "Understand pricing for Custom Agents" says agents "use Notion credits each time they run a task. More complex tasks usually use more credits." The cost moves with how much the agent reads, how many steps it takes, how often it runs and which model it uses: "Advanced models use more credits." Then it prices five example agents.

Notion's example agentCost per run, Notion's estimate
Q&A Custom Agent~$0.03–$0.11
Task routing Custom Agent~$0.05–$0.15
Status update Custom Agent~$0.08–$0.18
Mail triage Custom Agent~$0.04–$0.10
Daily brief Custom Agent~$0.10–$0.30

Notion's estimates from its Custom Agents pricing article, read 14 October 2026, priced at $10 per 1,000 credits. Notion's table also prints a runs-per-1,000-credits column, but two of its rows don't divide exactly from the cost column, so I quote cost per run only.

Notion works one example itself: "if your agent is like a 'Status update agent' and runs 60 times per month, that's about $4.80–$10.80 per month." A daily brief agent run once a day for 30 days lands at $3.00 to $9.00 a month on the same estimates (my arithmetic).

Read the caveats with the numbers. Notion says "your actual usage will vary" and that "costs are expected to decrease over time" as agents get more efficient. Each run's exact usage appears in the credits dashboard afterwards. Sub-agents push the other way: "Sub-agent work uses Notion credits, so extra hand-offs can cost more."

Monthly credits cost $10 per 1,000 and annual credits cost $13

Notion's help article What are Notion credits, read 14 October 2026, comparing monthly credits at $10 per 1,000, billed monthly and reset each month, with annual credits at $13 per 1,000, paid upfront and expiring at renewal.
notion.com/help/what-are-notion-credits, monthly vs annual credits, read 14 October 2026.

Monthly credits are "$10 per 1,000 credits", billed alongside your subscription. They "Reset each month. Unused credits don't carry over," and you can raise or lower the amount each month. Annual credits are "$13 per 1,000 credits", "Paid upfront in one payment", and they "Expire when your subscription renews". You can add more anytime, and lower or cancel at renewal. Those are the October 2026 terms.

You don't pick freely. "Users on monthly plans can buy monthly credits. Users on annual plans can buy annual credits." An account team can sell monthly, annual or on-demand credits outside that pairing; in the product, your seat billing picks your credit price. Account teams can also grant trial credits that don't carry over after the trial ends.

Notion spends free credits first, then monthly, then annual. A mid-cycle top-up arrives in full: "You'll get the full amount right away, and credits aren't prorated." There is no limit on how many you can buy.

Notion's credits FAQ asks "Are annual credits cheaper than monthly credits?" and answers "No." At $13 against $10 per 1,000, annual credits cost 30% more per credit as of October 2026 (my arithmetic). The per-run estimates above are priced at $10 per 1,000, so by the same arithmetic the same runs cost 30% more on annual credits than that table shows.

Yearly billing can still win, because the seat discount can outweigh the credit premium. Here is a five-member Business workspace spending 1,000 credits a month for a year:

One year, five Business members, 1,000 credits a monthMonthly billingYearly billing
Seats$1,440 (5 x $24 x 12)$1,200 (5 x $20 x 12)
Credits$120 (1,000 monthly credits at $10, 12 times)$156 (12,000 annual credits at $13 per 1,000)
Total$1,560$1,356

My arithmetic on Notion's prices as of 14 October 2026. Monthly credits reset every month, while the annual pool lasts until renewal, so the yearly column also forgives a lumpy month.

By my arithmetic, the break-even takes two numbers. Yearly billing saves $48 a member a year on Business seats, and annual credits cost $3 more per 1,000. So yearly stays cheaper until the workspace buys more than 16,000 credits a year per member: for five members, that's 80,000 credits, or $800 at the monthly credit price.

Notion isn't alone in metering agents this way. Our Lindy pricing breakdown and Manus pricing breakdown cover two other AI tools that bill in credits.

Agents pause when the credits run out

Run dry and the agents stop: "Custom Agents will pause automatically until credits reset or an admin adds more credits. Premium models pause too." Admins get in-app and email alerts at 80% and 100% of the workspace's credit usage.

Read Auto Adjust twice before you turn it on. It is off by default. When it fires, at 80% of your limit unless you change that, it adds credits at once and raises your monthly credit amount from then on. Notion calls it "a permanent plan change", and each firing builds on the last, up to your spending cap. The examples on Notion's help page in October 2026 are presets of $10, $20 or $50 and a $150 cap.

One more trap: if you pay for Notion through the App Store or Google Play, you can't buy credits inside Notion. You have to cancel and re-subscribe on notion.com to Business or Enterprise.

Workers are free while the beta lasts

Notion's Workers pricing article, read 14 October 2026, says "During the beta, Workers are free to try on Business and Enterprise plans (including Business trials). Eventually, they'll require Notion credits." The end date shows only inside the product, so I can't print one.

Notion has published a benchmark anyway: "Workers typically cost $0.0023 per run, which works out to ~4,348 runs per 1,000 monthly Notion credits ($10)." The free beta covers Workers only; Custom Agent actions still spend credits.

Enterprise: custom pricing and zero data retention

Enterprise reads "Custom pricing" and "Contact Sales" on both billing toggles, so there is no number to quote as of October 2026.

What it adds for AI is mostly about data. The card says "When using Notion AI, our LLM providers utilize zero data retention for Enterprise plan workspaces", while the AI table's Data retention row reads "30 day retention" on every other plan. Notion's AI page adds "HIPAA compliant for Enterprise", saying Notion AI "allows for the processing of protected health information (PHI)."

Notion AI for students and educators

Students and educators get a free one-member plan, and the AI on it is the Plus trial. Notion's pricing FAQ says "The Plus Plan (with a 1-member limit) is free for students and educators", with sign-up through a school email.

The help center calls the offer the Education Plan, "a free plan for a one-member workspace", and adds a separate free plan for verified student organizations with unlimited members. Both allow "Up to 100 guests per workspace", a cap paid Plus doesn't have. Neither page mentions AI, so budget for the trial and nothing more. And mind the exit: "Upgrading it to a Plus, Business, or Enterprise plan permanently ends that workspace's Education eligibility."

Which Notion plan should you pick for AI?

Pick by the work you want done. Prices are as of October 2026.

Notes, docs and the odd AI prompt: Free, or Plus for the workspace features. Both carry the same AI trial, so don't pay $10 or $12 a member for AI the plan doesn't include.

A small team that wants Notion Agent and meeting notes every day: Business. That is $20 a member yearly or $24 monthly.

A team automating a recurring process: Business plus credits, starting small. Run one Custom Agent, read its real per-run cost in the credits dashboard after a week, and keep Auto Adjust off until you have a month of data. Our guides to an AI agent for Notion project tracking and to Notion knowledge base maintenance show what those recurring jobs look like.

Regulated data: Enterprise. Zero data retention with the LLM providers and the HIPAA statement appear only on that plan, so ask sales for a quote.

If the agent you want lives outside Notion and writes into it, read how to connect an outside agent to Notion safely before you give it access. Weighing a workspace AI against a stand-alone assistant? Our Claude pricing breakdown covers the other side of that choice, and our list of the cheapest AI agent platforms in 2026 covers agent tools priced outside a workspace.

If the reason you are pricing Notion AI is one recurring job, say a weekly status rollup, a task agent is a different shape from a workspace AI seat. Gravity is an AI agent platform: you describe the job, an expert-built agent runs it, and it can repeat on a schedule. It does not replace Notion Agent inside your workspace. Basic is free with one agent and no card, and Pro is $5 a month during the beta, as of October 2026. Gravity is in public beta: Explore agents.

FAQ

1. Is Notion AI free?

Only as a trial. Notion's help center says people on Free and Plus "get a limited number of complimentary AI responses so they can try Notion AI features out" and gives no number. Full Notion AI is included on Business and Enterprise, as of October 2026.

2. How much is Notion AI per month?

Full Notion AI comes with the Business plan, at $20 a member a month billed yearly or $24 billed monthly, read on 14 October 2026. Custom Agents and premium models are billed on top in Notion credits, at $10 per 1,000 monthly credits.

3. Can I add Notion AI to the Plus plan?

Not on the pricing page I read on 14 October 2026, which lists no Notion AI add-on for Free or Plus. Plus, at $10 a member a month yearly or $12 monthly, carries a limited trial, and Notion credits are sold only to Business and Enterprise workspaces.

4. How much do Notion Custom Agents cost?

They are free to try, then $10 per 1,000 monthly Notion credits on Business and Enterprise, as of October 2026. Notion's help center estimates a status-update agent at about $0.08 to $0.18 per run, roughly $4.80 to $10.80 a month at 60 runs, and says actual usage varies.

5. What are Notion credits, and do they roll over?

Notion credits are a workspace-wide add-on for Business and Enterprise that pays for Custom Agents, Workers, premium models and AI use beyond the usage allowance. Monthly credits ($10 per 1,000) reset each month and annual credits ($13 per 1,000, paid upfront) expire at renewal, as of October 2026, so neither kind carries over.

6. Is Notion AI unlimited on Business?

No. Business and Enterprise include a usage allowance measured over a six-hour window and a monthly window, and Notion publishes no size for either. A member who uses it up waits for the reset unless an admin lets the workspace continue on Notion credits.

7. Can I pay for Notion AI with my ChatGPT plan?

Partly, since Notion 3.8 on 13 October 2026. On a Business or Enterprise workspace, a member with ChatGPT Plus, Pro or Go can connect it so Notion Agent sessions on a GPT model bill to that plan. It doesn't work with Custom Agents, and the Notion seat is still required.
