Picture the operations lead at a 40-person company. On Monday the chief executive forwards an article with one line typed above it: get us some AI agents by Friday.
She already pays for plenty: Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, plus a CRM. Every listicle she opens ranks its own author's product first and never asks about any of that.
That order is backwards. The best AI agent for a business is usually decided by what the business already pays for, and then by who is going to keep the agent working after launch week.
So the routing starts from the stack. I run Gravity and it sits at number one here too (at least I say so up front), with a plain note on where it is the wrong pick.
Running the business on your own? Read the best AI agents for small business owners instead, because this page is for companies with departments.
Nine platforms for business, priced as of September 2026
- A team that wants the job done without building: Gravity. A builder's agent runs the task and your first agent is free, though there is no Microsoft 365 or Salesforce connection at alpha.
- A Microsoft 365 company: Copilot Studio, with Microsoft 365 Copilot at $30 a user a month paid yearly.
- A Google Workspace company: Gemini Enterprise, from $21 a seat a month with a 30-day trial.
- Sales or service lives in Salesforce: Agentforce. The $5 user licence requires Flex Credits.
- A baseline before you buy anything: ChatGPT, where many teams start.
- Many small automations across apps: Zapier.
- Engineers who want control: n8n, from €20 a month billed annually for 2.5K executions, or self-hosted.
- One assistant per person: Lindy at $29.99 per user a month.
- Procurement wants a vendor in the room: Relevance AI, priced in a sales call.
What an AI agent does for a business
An AI agent for business is software that takes a recurring job and finishes it inside the tools your company already uses. It reads what came in, decides the next step, drafts or updates what needs changing, and runs on a schedule or a trigger without someone prompting every step.
A chat assistant stops earlier. Ask it for a follow-up email and it writes one, then you copy it into Gmail, find the thread and press send. The writing was the quick part. An agent does the part around the writing: it spots the new lead in the CRM, drafts into the right thread, logs what it did and comes back next week.
So set one rule before connecting anything: nothing reaches a customer until a person approves it. Giving an agent access to email safely covers the rest.
Describe your team's task in one sentence, such as following up on this week's HubSpot leads. Apply to the alpha; the first agent is free.
Start with the department, not the platform
Once you know which team gets the agent and which job it takes over, the platform question shrinks to a shortlist. Here is how I would route each one.
| Department | A job an agent does well there | The kind of tool that fits | Go deeper |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sales | Drafts follow-ups for new leads nobody has answered | Your CRM's own agent, or a finished follow-up agent | Best AI sales agents |
| Marketing | Turns one approved piece into drafts for other channels | A workflow builder or a marketing agent | AI marketing agents |
| Support | Tags and routes new tickets and drafts first replies for approval | Agentforce on Salesforce; otherwise a help desk triage agent | AI agent for Zendesk ticket triage |
| Finance and admin | Chases overdue invoices on a schedule | A finished agent connected to your accounting tool | AI agent for invoice chasing |
| HR | Schedules interviews and answers routine policy questions | An assistant inside your suite, or a recruiting agent | AI agents for HR |
| Operations | Collects team updates and writes the weekly status report | A scheduled agent or a workflow builder | AI agent for a weekly status report |
| Leadership | Prepares a daily brief from inbox and calendar | An executive assistant agent, such as Lindy | Best AI executive assistant |
My routing, from vendor pages read in September 2026.
Pick the first department with two tests. The task repeats every week, so the agent gets enough runs in a month to prove itself, and one named person owns the result and reads the drafts.
Sales follow-up and invoice chasing usually pass both. Leadership often fails the second, because the executive who wants help has the least time to check it. Of Gravity's 88 launch agents, 21 cover sales and lead follow-up and 11 cover invoices and bookkeeping admin.
How I compared them
Every platform got the same five questions. I did not run a bake-off; this is a close reading of vendor pages, and where a page left a gap, the section says so.
- The pricing page, with a date. Salesforce's numbers come from the 13th. Zapier was read on the 16th and the rest on 17 September 2026.
- The meter. Seats, capacity packs, consumption, executions, tasks or a quote.
- Who builds it, and who keeps it working. At a 40-person company both jobs tend to land on one person who already had a job.
- What it plugs into. The suite first, then the CRM.
- Whether the agent can act or only draft. Acting saves more time and needs tighter approvals to match.
Quick comparison
| Tool | What it is | Who does the work | Starting price (Sep 2026) | What you pay for | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gravity | AI agent platform with expert-built agents | The agent; its builder keeps it working | First agent free, then Pro $5/mo during the alpha; Max $20/mo | A plan with usage included | Getting the job done without building |
| Microsoft Copilot Studio | Microsoft's agent builder | Your team builds and maintains | $200/mo per 25,000 Copilot Credits, or pay-as-you-go | Copilot Credits, by pack or pay-as-you-go | Microsoft 365 companies |
| Google Gemini Enterprise | Google's AI app for every employee | Your team; no IT setup on Business | $21/seat/mo Business | Seats, or pay-as-you-go at 20+ seats | Google Workspace companies |
| Salesforce Agentforce | Agents inside Salesforce | Your team, inside Salesforce | $0 on Foundations, consumption billed above it | Flex Credits, conversations or per-user licences | Sales and service teams on Salesforce |
| ChatGPT | AI assistant with business and enterprise plans | You | Not quoted (page showed rupees) | A plan | A baseline before buying |
| Zapier | Automation platform with Zaps and Agents | You build | Free; Professional from $19.99/mo | Tasks | Many small automations across apps |
| n8n | Workflow automation with a self-hosted option | You build, and host if self-hosting | €20/mo Starter, billed annually | Workflow executions | Technical teams that want control |
| Lindy | AI teammate for inbox, meetings and Slack | The assistant, with your approval | $29.99/user/mo Plus | Seats, each with Lindy credits | One assistant per person |
| Relevance AI | Enterprise AI workforce platform | Your team, with a dedicated account manager | Custom, through sales | An Enterprise contract | Enterprises buying an AI workforce |
Monthly list prices read 13 to 17 September 2026. n8n stays in euros; ChatGPT's page showed rupees for my location, so its row has no price.
Must read: if the smallest monthly bill decides it, the cheapest AI agent platforms in 2026 compares the low end on price.
1. Gravity: best when a team wants the job done without building

This is my product, so discount me accordingly. It is first because nobody at the company designs the agent, wires it up or fixes it later.
You describe the task in plain words, and Gravity matches it to an agent an independent builder already made. At alpha you connect Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, HubSpot, Pipedrive or Xero by signing in, and anything that would message a customer waits for your approval.
Who repairs the agent when an app changes
The builder who published it does. Building an agent has an end date; keeping it working through API changes lasts as long as it runs.
At alpha there is no file upload, database intake, Microsoft 365 or Salesforce connection, so Microsoft and Salesforce shops should start with sections 2 and 4. If your CRM is HubSpot, read the HubSpot AI agent guide too.
Pros
- Nothing to build or keep working
- Customer messages wait for approval
- First agent free, no card
Cons
- No Microsoft 365 or Salesforce connection at alpha
- Private alpha, so you apply first
- Only tasks a builder has already published
- Best for
- A team on Google Workspace, Slack or HubSpot with a recurring task and nobody spare to build.
- Pricing
- First agent free, no card. Then Pro at $5 a month during the alpha, or Max at $20 a month for more agents and usage. Buy more usage if you run out. As of September 2026.
- Free tier
- Yes, your first agent.
- Verdict
- Apply to the alpha with the one task you most want off someone's desk.
2. Microsoft Copilot Studio: best for a Microsoft 365 company

If the company pays for Microsoft 365, start with Microsoft. Microsoft 365 Copilot is $30.00 per user a month paid yearly and includes Copilot Chat plus a standard harness in Copilot Studio for building agents.
Copilot Studio has its own meter: capacity packs of 25,000 Copilot Credits at $200.00 a month, or pay-as-you-go with no up-front licence, billed for the Copilot Credits consumed at month end. Agents bill a varying number of Copilot Credits per action or response. That makes a pack hard to size in advance, so a month on pay-as-you-go shows your real number first.
Two meters to budget with Microsoft
Seats pay for people and Copilot Credits pay for what agents do, so budget two lines. There is a cheaper seat: Microsoft 365 Copilot Business is "originally starting from $21.00, now starting from $18.00" per user a month paid yearly, or $25.20 monthly.
Pros
- Inside the suite you already pay for
- Building harness included with Microsoft 365 Copilot
- Pay-as-you-go with no up-front licence
Cons
- Two meters to budget
- Copilot Credits per action vary, so the first bill is a guess
- Your own team builds and maintains the agents
It is best for a company whose mail, files and meetings already sit in Microsoft 365. Prices are as of September 2026. A free Azure account comes with a $200.00 credit that can be used to create agents.
If the first job is sales follow-up, AI agents for lead generation looks at it on its own, apart from any suite.
3. Google Gemini Enterprise: best for a Google Workspace company

The Business edition is "for small businesses and teams, no IT setup needed", from $21 USD per seat per month with a 30-day trial, and connects to Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, HubSpot, Jira and more. That connector list helps a company with a foot in each suite. Standard and Plus, "for organizations that need enterprise-grade IT controls", start at $30 USD per seat per month.
If you have 20 seats or more
Organisations with 20 or more seats can choose pay-as-you-go with a $0 seat fee. I have no usage rate for it to quote, so get one from Google before assuming it beats $21 a seat.
- Best for
- A Google Workspace company, or one split with Microsoft 365, that wants agents without an IT project.
- Pricing
- Business from $21 a seat a month, Standard and Plus from $30, as of September 2026.
- Free tier
- A 30-day trial.
- Verdict
- Run the trial on one department's task before buying seats for everyone.
4. Salesforce Agentforce: best when sales or service already runs on Salesforce

Agentforce lives inside Salesforce. The agent works beside the pipeline and service records that are already there. I read the pricing page on 13 September 2026. These numbers are older than the rest.
Reading an Agentforce bill line by line
- $0 to start on the Salesforce Foundations tier, which bills consumption above it.
- Flex Credits: $500 per 100,000.
- Conversations: $2 each.
- Agentforce user licence: $5 per user a month, which requires Flex Credits and is not sold on its own.
- Flat Fee Access: $125 per user a month.
- Agentforce 1 editions: from $550 per user a month.
Six ways to pay is a lot of ways to pay. Start on Foundations at $0 and see which meter your first agent trips.
Pros
- Works beside records already in Salesforce
- A $0 entry on Foundations
- A flat per-user option for finance
Cons
- Several meters, and the $5 licence still needs Flex Credits
- Agentforce 1 editions from $550 per user a month
It suits a Salesforce org running sales or service at scale. Read the Salesforce AI agent guide first.
Not on Salesforce or Microsoft? Gravity connects to HubSpot and Google Workspace at alpha. Apply to the alpha.
5. ChatGPT: best as the baseline a team starts from
ChatGPT is where many teams start, which makes it the baseline for this page. Its pricing page lists Free, Go, Plus and Pro for individuals and a separate Business & Enterprise tab.
On 17 September 2026 the page served me prices in Indian rupees for my location. Converting them would be a guess at what a US company pays, so I quote no dollar price for ChatGPT.
- Best for
- A team setting a baseline before buying anything.
- Pricing
- Business and enterprise plans on a separate tab; no dollar price quoted, as of September 2026.
- Free tier
- Yes, a Free plan.
- Verdict
- The baseline to measure the other eight against.
6. Zapier: best for many small automations across many apps

Zapier advertises 9,000+ app integrations, the biggest integration count any vendor put in front of me for this post, and that reach is the reason to be here.
Agents share a menu with Zaps
The product menu lists Agents, "Create your own AI assistants for any task", beside Zaps, Tables, Forms, Canvas, Chatbots and Zapier MCP. The agents pricing page showed no readable number on 17 September 2026, so Agents get no separate price.
Every automation is still yours to build and repair. Zapier bills by task, so read Zapier pricing explained before the first invoice lands.
- Best for
- Dozens of small automations across apps no single suite covers.
- Pricing
- Free at $0. Professional from $19.99 a month ($13.33 billed annually). Team from $69 a month ($66.67 billed annually). As of September 2026.
- Free tier
- Yes.
- Verdict
- The widest reach here, for a team with someone who enjoys building.
7. n8n: best for a technical team that wants control

n8n suits a team with an engineer who wants to own the logic. It also has a self-hosted option.
The meter is the workflow execution, and Starter allows unlimited steps inside each one, which favours long workflows. n8n pricing explained covers what counts as an execution.
Starter, Pro and Business in euros
As of September 2026, in euros as the page shows them: Starter €20 a month billed annually for 2.5K executions, Pro €50 for 10K, Business €667 for 40K. The free trial needs no credit card.
8. Lindy: best for one assistant across inbox, meetings and Slack

Lindy calls itself "The AI teammate that will 3x your output", and its features target one person's day: inbox management, replies drafted in your voice, meeting recording and notes, daily briefs, scheduled routines and a Slack-native teammate, with approvals built in.
The unit to watch is the person. Each user carries an allowance of Lindy credits, so the bill grows with headcount.
One person's work or a department's
Lindy fits work that belongs to one person. For a department's shared process, Gravity vs Lindy sets the two side by side.
- Best for
- Managers who want one assistant for their own inbox and meetings.
- Pricing
- Plus $29.99, Pro $99.99 and Max $199.99 per user a month, with 3k, 15k and 35k Lindy credits per user. Enterprise through sales. As of September 2026.
- Free tier
- A 7-day free trial.
- Verdict
- Multiply by headcount before you roll it out to a department.
One Friday task is enough to start: this week's HubSpot leads, a drafted follow-up for each, and your approval before anything sends. Apply to the alpha with that task.
9. Relevance AI: best for an enterprise buying an AI workforce

Relevance AI's pricing page has one plan: Enterprise, custom, behind a Talk to sales button. There is no self-serve price, so nothing here compares on a number. It is built for a big buyer. The plan lists unlimited agents, tools and users, 2,000+ integrations, calling and meeting agents, evaluations and A/B testing, SSO, RBAC, audit logs and a dedicated account manager.
- Best for
- An enterprise buying an AI workforce with a vendor in the room.
- Pricing
- Enterprise only, custom, through sales. As of September 2026.
- Free tier
- None on the pricing page.
- Verdict
- Far more than a 40-person team needs for its first agent.
Smaller team, same job
The ops lead from the top of this post does not need unlimited users. Gravity vs Relevance AI is the closer comparison at that size, and enterprise AI agent platforms covers the buyers who do.
What AI agents cost a business
Here is the ops lead's company at list price, with ten people wherever a vendor charges per person. These are list prices for different things, which is the point.
| Option | The arithmetic (Sep 2026) | What the money buys |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft 365 Copilot | 10 people × $30 per user a month, paid yearly = $300 a month | Copilot and the agent-building harness for ten |
| Gemini Enterprise Business | 10 seats × from $21 = from $210 a month | Ten seats |
| Lindy Plus | 10 people × $29.99 = $299.90 a month | Ten assistants, each with 3k Lindy credits |
| Copilot Studio | 1 capacity pack × $200 = $200 a month | 25,000 Copilot Credits for your agents |
| Zapier Team | From $69 a month | The Team plan |
| n8n Starter | €20 a month, billed annually | 2,500 workflow executions |
| Gravity | First agent free, then Pro at $5 a month during the alpha | A lot of usage included; buy more if you run out |
Three lines buy seats for people, one buys a pool of Copilot Credits for agents, one buys a task plan and one buys executions. A Microsoft company whose ten Copilot seat holders also run busy agents could carry both Microsoft lines: $300 + $200 = $500 a month.
Must read: every tool's starting price in one table, for when finance asks what else you looked at.
Which one should you choose?
Start from the suite you pay for. A Microsoft 365 company should open Copilot Studio first; Microsoft 365 Copilot, at $30 a user a month paid yearly, includes a standard harness for building agents. A Google Workspace company should run the Gemini Enterprise trial on one department.
A Salesforce org with sales or service at scale belongs on Agentforce.
A technical team that wants control, or wants everything on its own servers, should pick n8n. Many small automations spread across many apps point to Zapier.
Lindy fits one assistant across inbox, meetings and Slack; count the seats first. An enterprise buying an AI workforce with a vendor in the room should call Relevance AI.
My own bias, stated plainly: a team that wants a job done without building should apply to the Gravity alpha. That goes double if its work runs through Google Workspace, Slack or HubSpot.
Running the business alone is a different question with different answers. The best AI agents for small business covers that one.
FAQ
What's the best AI agent for business?
The one that fits the software you already pay for: Copilot Studio for a Microsoft 365 company, Gemini Enterprise for Google Workspace and Agentforce for Salesforce. A team that wants a task done without building can apply to the Gravity alpha.
What can an AI agent do for my business?
It can finish a repeated task across your tools, such as following up on new leads, chasing overdue invoices or writing the weekly status report. Keep anything customer-facing behind an approval.
How much do AI agents cost?
As of September 2026, Microsoft 365 Copilot is $30 per user a month paid yearly and Gemini Enterprise Business starts at $21 a seat a month. Gravity's first agent is free, then Pro is $5 a month during the alpha.
What are the 7 types of AI agents?
Lists of agent types vary by source, so I would not treat any list of seven as official. Types of AI agents explained walks through the common classifications.
Are AI agents safe to give access to company email and data?
They can be, if you set the limits first. Give the agent only the access its task needs and require approval before anything reaches a customer. How to give an agent access to email safely covers the setup.
Should a business build or buy AI agents?
Build when the process is unique and someone will maintain the agent for as long as it runs. Buy when the task is common and nobody has time to keep an agent working. Build vs buy an AI agent goes deeper.
Which department should get an AI agent first?
The one with a weekly task and a single owner. Sales follow-up and invoice chasing often qualify, because the owner spots a bad draft quickly.
