On this page

Otter sells four plans, and every price on its pricing page is per user. As of 23 October 2026, when I read that page alongside Otter's checkout order summaries and help center, Basic is free, Pro costs $16.99 a month or $8.33 a month billed yearly ($99.99 a year), and Business costs $30 a month or $19.99 a month billed yearly ($239.88). Enterprise has no public price. You book a demo.

Minutes decide which plan you need. Basic gives you 300 a month and caps each conversation's transcript at 30 minutes. Pro gives you 1,200 and caps at 90. Business stops counting meeting minutes and caps imported files at 6,000 minutes a month instead.

Below are the limits behind each card, what yearly billing saves, who gets each offer, and what the same money buys from three rivals. If you have not settled on Otter yet, my guide to seven AI note takers priced for a five-person team is the wider comparison. This page stays on Otter.

TL;DR

Otter pricing in five lines (October 2026)

  1. Four plans, priced per user: Basic free, Pro $16.99 a month, Business $30 a month and Enterprise by demo, on Otter's pricing page read 23 October 2026.
  2. Yearly billing halves Pro: $8.33 a month, billed as $99.99 a year. Business drops to $19.99 a month ($239.88 a year).
  3. Basic is free for good, but shows only the first 30 minutes of each conversation's transcript, inside a 300-minute monthly pool that file imports share.
  4. Minutes cannot be bought. Past the cap, Otter's answer is the next plan up, and unused minutes never roll over.
  5. Discounts are narrow. Students and teachers with a .edu address get 20% off Pro. First-time Business subscribers get three months at $24 on monthly billing. Otter refunds nobody.

How I read the prices

On 23 October 2026 I read four kinds of Otter page, because each one answers a different question:

  • The pricing page, in both billing views. It opens on Annual, so the first prices you see are yearly rates divided into months.
  • The checkout order summaries for Pro and Business, which print the yearly totals Otter actually bills. I read them without entering a card or an email.
  • The help center, for how each limit behaves once you hit it and how a team bill grows.
  • The terms of service, effective 19 September 2025.

From an Indian connection, Otter's pricing page shows a regional offer valid only with an India-issued card. Every Otter price below comes from the US version of each page instead, in US dollars, before tax.

The homepage calls the product Otter Meeting Agent, the help center calls the bot that joins your calls Otter Notetaker, and older guides still say OtterPilot. Whatever the name, the pricing page sells plans, and all four include the bot that joins Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet.

Otter plans at a glance

This is what each plan buys per user, in US dollars, as of 23 October 2026. Read the minutes and imports columns first; they decide more than any feature row.

Otter's pricing page in its default annual view, read 23 October 2026, showing Basic as free, Pro at $8.33 per user per month marked save 51%, Business at $19.99 per user per month marked save 33%, and Enterprise with a Schedule a demo button.
Otter's pricing page in its default annual view, US prices, read 23 October 2026. $8.33 and $19.99 are per user per month, billed yearly.

US list prices per user per month, before tax, from Otter's pricing page, its comparison table and the yearly totals at its checkout, read 23 October 2026. On monthly billing, first-time Business subscribers pay $24 for three months; the list price is $30.

Two footnotes on the page change how you read that table. The asterisk on the Basic and Pro minutes says "Shared pool across all transcription types", so 300 or 1,200 minutes cover meetings, in-app recordings and file imports together. The plus sign on the Business offer says "Offer valid for first-time subscribers only".

Paying yearly halves Pro

Switch Otter's pricing page to Monthly and Pro becomes $16.99 a user, while Business lists at $30, as of 23 October 2026. The checkout puts both cycles side by side, with twelve monthly payments struck through.

Otter's pricing page with monthly billing selected, read 23 October 2026, showing Pro at $16.99 per user per month and Business with $30 struck through beside $24 under a 20% off for 3 months offer tag.
The monthly view, read 23 October 2026: Pro is $16.99 a user. Business lists at $30; the $24 is a three-month offer for first-time subscribers.
PlanTwelve months, billed monthlyBilled yearlyYou save
Pro$203.88$99.99$103.89 (51%)
Business$360.00$239.88$120.12 (33%)

Yearly totals and struck-through monthly totals from Otter's checkout order summaries, one user, US prices, read 23 October 2026. The savings column is my arithmetic.

Multiply $8.33 by twelve and you get $99.96, and some guides print that figure, but Otter's checkout bills $99.99. Three cents will not ruin anyone's year. Still, the yearly total is what lands on your card, so it is the number I quote.

Two billing rules from Otter's help center matter before you commit. A switch from monthly to annual takes effect at your next billing cycle, and any trial members in your workspace become paid seats the moment you make it. A switch back from annual to monthly means "any discounting applied to your annual subscription may be removed".

Basic: free, with limits that bite on the first long meeting

Basic costs nothing, and Otter's comparison table calls it "Free forever". The help center agrees: "You can use the Basic free plan of Otter as long as you'd like." Here is what you get, as of October 2026:

  • 300 transcription minutes a month, shared by everything you record or import.
  • 30 minutes per conversation.
  • Three file imports per account, for good. They never refill.
  • Your 25 most recent conversations. Older ones are archived, and Otter keeps them; you can export them without upgrading.
  • 20 AI Chat queries a month, with no more than 3 on any one conversation.
  • One meeting at a time and playback at 1x only. Exports come as mp3 or txt files.
  • Otter's MCP server, which every plan includes.
Otter's help center article on conversation, import and app limits on the Basic free plan, read 23 October 2026, listing 300 minutes a month, 30 minutes per transcription, three imports and the 25 most recent conversations, with a note that deleted conversations still count toward the limit.
Otter's help center on the free plan's limits, read 23 October 2026. Deleted conversations still count toward the 300 minutes.

A one-hour call on Basic leaves you the first 30 minutes of transcript.

The recording keeps going past minute 30. Otter's help center says "your recording or import will not stop, but you will only be able to access up to 30-minutes of the transcription." Upgrade to a paid plan and the full transcript becomes available.

Stay on Basic and the second half of that call stays out of reach.

The monthly pool goes quickly too. 300 minutes is ten half-hour calls, and once it is spent "you will not be able to record or import recordings until your next monthly cycle." Deleting old conversations buys nothing back, because "Deleted conversations will still count towards the transcription limit."

Pro at $8.33 or $16.99: 1,200 minutes for up to five people

Pro costs $16.99 per user a month, or $8.33 a month billed yearly at $99.99, as of October 2026. Otter's card pitches it "For individuals and small teams", and small is literal: a Pro workspace stops at five billed users.

Minutes
1,200 a month per user. The card says "1200 in-app recording minutes"; the footnote makes it one pool that imports draw from too.
Per conversation
Up to 90 minutes.
Imports
10 audio or video files a month.
AI Chat
50 queries a month.
Meetings at once
Two.
Integrations
Zapier, plus Salesforce or HubSpot sync for one user.
Also new over Basic
Unlimited history, 0.5x to 3x playback, and pdf, docx and srt exports.

Is Pro good value per hour? Fill all 1,200 minutes and you get 20 hours of transcript, about $0.85 an hour on monthly billing and about $0.42 on yearly billing, by my arithmetic. Use half the pool and the hourly price doubles.

Students and teachers get 20% off Pro, and nothing else.

Otter's pricing FAQ offers "a 20% discount on Otter Pro Monthly and Otter Pro Annual plans for individual students and teachers using an email address ending with .edu." As of October 2026 that makes Pro $13.59 a month, or $79.99 a year, which is $6.67 a month and $20 less than the regular yearly price. The fine print sits in Otter's help center:

  • The program covers the Pro individual plan only. Workspace features are not part of it, and Business has no student price.
  • Students, faculty and full-time staff at accredited schools and universities qualify; without a .edu address, you contact support and may be asked for documents.
  • Payment is by credit card.
  • Already on a paid plan? You cancel first, and Otter does not refund what you paid before.

Otter's back-to-school deal, 50% off an annual Pro plan, ran through the end of September 2026. It has ended, and the pricing FAQ now shows only the 20%. For the rest of a student's toolkit, see AI tools for students, free tiers first.

Business at $19.99 or $30: unlimited meetings, capped imports

Business costs $30 per user a month, or $19.99 a month billed yearly at $239.88, as of October 2026. Otter tags it "BEST VALUE" and aims it at medium-sized teams. The word doing the selling is unlimited, and it covers less than it seems:

  • Meetings and in-app recordings: unlimited.
  • Imports: unlimited in number, capped in minutes. Each user gets 6,000 import minutes a month, and they do not roll over.
  • Up to 4 hours per conversation and three meetings at once.
  • 200 AI Chat queries a month, four times Pro's allowance.
  • Admin tools: usage analytics and activity logs. Email support is prioritized.
  • CRM sync for five users, plus Dropbox auto-sync and Zoom cloud-recording sync.
  • Up to 25 billed users. The checkout starts at one seat, and no minimum is printed.
Otter's plan comparison table, read 23 October 2026, with Basic, Pro at $8.33, Business at $19.99 and Enterprise across the top, and rows showing meeting minutes of 300, 1,200, unlimited and unlimited, import minutes up to 6,000, and per-conversation caps of 30 minutes, 90 minutes and 4 hours.
The limits behind Otter's plan cards, from its comparison table on 23 October 2026. Basic and Pro minutes are one pool shared by meetings and imports.

The $24 Business price lasts three months and only for first-time subscribers.

In the monthly view on 23 October 2026, the Business card showed $30 struck through, $24 beside it and "20% off for 3 months+". The plus sign leads to the footnote "Offer valid for first-time subscribers only", and the checkout applies it as a code that takes $6.00 off the $30.00 monthly charge. No end date is printed. Further down, the monthly view's comparison header shows Business at $24 with no strike-through, so read it as the offer.

Price the first year honestly. Three months at $24 plus nine at $30 comes to $342 on monthly billing, by my arithmetic, against $239.88 for the yearly plan as of October 2026. The offer saves you $18 over the list price, and paying yearly still costs $102.12 less than taking it.

The 7-day Business trial takes a card and rolls onto the monthly rate.

Otter's start-for-free page offers a Business trial, "Free for 7 Days". The help center names the condition: "A credit card is required to start the Otter Business free trial." When the week ends, the card on file is charged for the current number of seats in your workspace at the Business monthly rate unless the trial was cancelled, and only an admin can cancel it.

The start page describes the trial as "6000 monthly transcription minutes"; the pricing table gives Business unlimited meetings and 6,000 minutes of imports, and I would go by the table. No Otter page I read offered a trial of Pro.

Enterprise: a demo, an API, and SSO from 100 users

Enterprise has no published price on any Otter page I read on 23 October 2026. The card says "Schedule a demo", and invoicing also runs through sales. If a guide prints an Enterprise price range, ask where it came from. Otter has not published one.

What it adds falls into three groups. Sales teams get Otter Sales Notetaker and live coaching, which arrived on 21 July 2026 when Otter launched Live Assist, a real-time coaching agent "available today on Otter Enterprise". Developers get the Otter API and webhooks, which no other plan has, and video replay for Zoom and Google Meet sits on this plan alone. Security teams get SSO, SCIM provisioning, custom data retention and HIPAA compliance as an add-on.

In the comparison table, SSO and SCIM each carry "minimum 100-user license required". The card also lists AI Chat with Gmail, Google Drive, Notion and Jira. On 23 October 2026 that line was tagged NEW in the annual view and COMING SOON in the monthly one, so treat it as listed and ask about it in the demo.

What the sticker price leaves out

The card price is per user, per month, before tax. These are the other things that move an Otter bill:

  • Minutes are not for sale. Otter's help center asks itself "Do you have more minutes I can purchase?" and answers "If you require more monthly minutes, we recommend upgrading plans."
  • The reset date is yours. Minutes reset each month at the date and time your billing cycle began.
  • Trial members become paid seats. Someone who joins through workspace discovery or a shared conversation starts as a free trial member, then becomes a paid member when the trial ends unless an admin removes them. An admin's direct invite is charged straight away.
  • Added seats are charged; removed seats return credits. The charge covers the rest of the billing period, and only seats removed above your starting count come back as prorated credits, which "have no currency or exchange value".
  • Sales tax where it applies, worked out from your billing address.
  • App-store plans sit apart. Subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play are billed by Apple or Google, and moving to web billing without cancelling there first means you "may risk being double charged".
  • Live transcription over RTMP on Business, where "additional fees apply".
  • HIPAA compliance, sold as an Enterprise add-on.

Otter Meeting Agent, AI Chat and the MCP server

On 25 March 2025 Otter announced its Meeting Agent, a voice-activated assistant that takes part in meetings live. By Otter's account, it can answer questions, "schedule follow-ups, and draft emails", and it was to be "incrementally rolled out to all Otter.ai users", Zoom first. AI Chat became "private by default" with Otter's Conversational Knowledge Engine launch on 28 April 2026, and it is metered by plan at 20, 50 or 200 queries a month.

Every plan, Basic included, lists "MCP server integration for AI assistants", and Claude appears in the homepage's list of integrations, so Claude can connect to Otter. Here is what Claude itself costs.

On 20 October 2026 Otter announced $320 million in growth financing from General Catalyst's Customer Value Fund. The release mentions no change to prices or plans.

What the same money buys at Fireflies, Fathom and Granola

Here is one seat at Otter and at three rivals, each read on the vendor's own pricing page on 23 October 2026. It is a price check for a solo buyer. For the wider comparison, see my guide to the best AI note takers.

ToolPlanBilled monthlyBilled yearlyFree tier, in one line
OtterPro$16.99$8.33 a month ($99.99 a year)Basic: 300 minutes a month, 30 per conversation
FirefliesPro$18$10 a monthFree: unlimited transcription (asterisked), 400 minutes of storage per team
FathomPremium$20$16 a monthFree: unlimited recordings and transcriptions
GranolaBusiness$14 (one price shown)Not shownBasic: $0, with 30 days of meeting history

Per user or seat per month, in US dollars, from each vendor's own pricing page, read 23 October 2026. Fireflies and Fathom open on their yearly prices; Granola shows one price per plan and states no billing period.

The free tiers cap different things. Otter counts minutes and shows only the first 30 of each conversation's transcript. Fireflies advertises "Unlimited transcription" with an asterisk, holds 400 minutes of storage per team and limits recordings to two hours. Granola keeps 30 days of meeting history on its free Basic plan, and Fathom's free plan lists "Unlimited recordings + transcriptions".

Fathom now belongs to Superhuman, which announced the acquisition on 14 September 2026. If your team already pays for Notion Business, that plan lists Notion's AI Meeting Notes, and my explainer covers the rest of its AI pricing.

Cancelling, refunds and how you pay

Otter does not refund. Its terms of service, effective 19 September 2025, say "All fees are in U.S. Dollars and are non-refundable", and the help center adds that this holds for a cancellation you forgot about. Monthly and yearly plans alike.

  • Cancel at least 24 hours before your next billing date. Only an owner or admin can do it.
  • Paid features last until the period ends. Then the workspace drops to Basic, and conversations beyond the 25 most recent are archived. Otter does not delete them, and you can export them without paying.
  • Pausing works once. In the help center's words, "You can only pause your subscription once."
  • Cards on the web, or app-store billing. Otter takes credit and debit cards on its website, plus in-app purchases through the App Store or Google Play, where Apple or Google handle refunds. PayPal? "Not yet".
  • A declined payment is retried up to three times before the account drops to Basic.
  • Once a shared conversation is archived under your Basic plan, the people you shared it with lose access.

Nonprofits have one route to a discount. Otter's help center says registration and approval through TechSoup "is currently the only way" to get its Business discount, for organisations with 501(c)(3) or equivalent status. As of October 2026, TechSoup lists a first-year Otter Business subscription "for three or more users" at a "40 percent discounted rate paid to Otter.ai", with a $41 admin fee, and a $29 admin fee on renewal. Without a TechSoup renewal, the plan renews automatically at the regular Business rate.

Which Otter plan should you pick?

Start with your longest meeting and your monthly total, then choose the billing cycle. If I recorded three hour-long client calls a week, that would be about 780 minutes a month with no call past 90, and at October 2026 prices I would pay $99.99 for a year of Pro.

  • A few short calls a month, none over half an hour: Basic. It costs nothing.
  • One person with hour-long meetings or regular uploads: Pro, billed yearly at $99.99. That is 20 hours of transcript a month for $103.89 less than twelve monthly payments.
  • A student or teacher with a .edu address: Pro at 20% off, yearly, for $79.99.
  • More than 1,200 minutes a person, calls past 90 minutes, or a team bigger than five: Business, billed yearly at $239.88 a seat. Pay monthly only if you may cancel within a few months, and price the $24 offer as the $342 first year it is.
  • A company that needs SSO for 100 or more users: Enterprise, by demo.

Torn between a note taker and a general AI subscription? The best AI subscription guide covers that choice. For the work after a meeting, see turning meeting notes into follow-ups, and for the inbox itself, AI email assistants compared.

Otter handles the meeting, and its Meeting Agent can draft follow-up emails from what was said. The scheduling requests and replies those meetings set off land in your inbox, which is a separate job. Gravity is in public beta: you type the job and an expert-built agent runs it. The Inbox assistant in Gravity's catalog in October 2026 sorts your new Gmail each morning into needs you, FYI, can wait and no action, drafts replies in your voice with free times from your calendar for meeting requests, and sends you a short digest. It never sends an email for you, and it does not record or transcribe meetings. Your first 5 agent runs are free; Basic is free with one agent, and Pro is $5 a month during the beta. Explore agents

FAQ

1. How much does Otter AI cost?

As of 23 October 2026, Otter's Basic plan is free, Pro costs $16.99 per user a month or $8.33 a month billed yearly ($99.99 a year), and Business costs $30 a month or $19.99 a month billed yearly ($239.88 a year). Enterprise has no published price; Otter sells it through a demo.

2. Is Otter AI free?

Yes. Otter's Basic plan is free for as long as you like, with 300 transcription minutes a month shared between meetings and file imports and a 30-minute limit on each conversation, as of October 2026. It also allows three file imports for the life of the account and shows your 25 most recent conversations.

3. How long can I use Otter for free?

Indefinitely. Otter's help center says you can use the Basic plan as long as you like, and its 300 minutes reset every month. Unused minutes do not roll over, and deleted conversations still count toward the limit.

4. What happens when I run out of Otter minutes?

On Basic, you cannot record or import again until your next monthly cycle starts. Otter sells no extra minutes and recommends upgrading to a bigger plan, as of October 2026. Unused minutes never carry over to the next month.

5. Does Otter have a student discount?

Yes. Individual students and teachers with a .edu email address get 20% off Pro, which makes it $13.59 a month or $79.99 a year ($6.67 a month) as of October 2026. The discount does not cover Business or workspaces, and the 50% back-to-school offer ended with September 2026.

6. Is there an Otter free trial?

Business has a 7-day free trial, and it needs a credit card. When the week ends, Otter charges the card for the seats in your workspace at the Business monthly rate unless an admin cancels. No Otter page I read on 23 October 2026 offered a Pro trial.

7. Can I get a refund from Otter?

No. Otter's terms of service say all fees are non-refundable, on monthly and yearly plans alike, so cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date. Subscriptions bought through the App Store or Google Play follow Apple's or Google's refund policies.

8. Is Otter cheaper than Fireflies?

For one seat, yes, on both billing cycles as of October 2026: Otter Pro costs $16.99 a month or $8.33 billed yearly, against $18 or $10 for Fireflies Pro. For team totals across seven tools, see my guide to the best AI note takers.
