On this page

Manychat sells five plans, all of them priced by people. I read its pricing page on 24 October 2026, and these are the US prices, before tax: Free costs $0 for 25 Active Contacts a month, Essential $17 a month or $14 billed yearly for 250, Pro $39 or $29 for 2,500, Business $99 or $69 for 7,500, and Advanced $199 or $139 for 25,000.

An Active Contact is one person you exchange messages with through Manychat in a billing month. Pass your plan's allowance and you pay for each extra person, from $0.10 on Essential down to $0.004 or less on Advanced on monthly plans. Bring your monthly head count to the pricing page, because that number picks the plan.

TL;DR

Manychat pricing in five lines (October 2026)

  1. Five plans, priced by the people you message: Free covers 25 Active Contacts a month; Essential $17, Pro $39, Business $99 and Advanced $199 a month include 250, 2,500, 7,500 and 25,000 (US prices, read 24 October 2026).
  2. Yearly billing saves 18% to 30%: $14, $29, $69 or $139 a month, paid as $168, $348, $828 or $1,668 up front.
  3. Past the allowance you pay per person: $0.10 on Essential, $0.05 on Pro, $0.025 on Business and $0.004 or less on Advanced on monthly plans, and you can cap it.
  4. WhatsApp costs extra on top: templates are charged per delivery, and since 1 October 2026 replies too, after 1,000 free a month per number.
  5. Pages quoting "$15" describe the plans Manychat retired for new accounts on 2 March 2026.

How I read Manychat's prices

I read Manychat's US pricing page, its help center and Meta's WhatsApp pricing page on 24 October 2026, plus the pricing pages of Chatfuel and LinkDM for the comparison near the end. Two things about Manychat's page change what you see:

  • It opens on annual billing. The big $14, $29, $69 and $139 are monthly prices for a year paid up front. Click Monthly to see $17, $39, $99 and $199, the prices without the yearly commitment.
  • It prices by billing country. Manychat says "The price is determined by the user's billing country", and the purchase page shows your final price before you pay.

The cards also skip the rules. Each paid card says "Active Contacts per month included, then pay per contact" and stops there. What counts and when the count resets live in the help center.

Manychat replaced its plans on 2 March 2026. Anything quoting "$15 for 500 contacts" describes the old plans, which some accounts opened before that date still pay. The section on why some sites still say $15 has the details.

Manychat plans at a glance

The table below shows US prices as of October 2026. Read the Active Contacts column before the price columns, because it decides the bill.

Manychat's pricing page, US prices before tax, plan cards and comparison grid, read 24 October 2026. Yearly prices are per month, with the yearly total Manychat prints in brackets; extra Inbox seats on Pro and above are $25 each, with no billing period printed.

Manychat prices each account separately. Run three brands, or three clients, and you pay for three subscriptions, each with its own contact allowance.

Manychat's pricing page in its default annual view, read 24 October 2026, showing Free at $0 for 25 Active Contacts, Essential at $14 a month billed as $168 a year, Pro at $29 a month billed as $348, Business at $69 a month billed as $828 and Advanced at $139 a month billed as $1,668.
Manychat's pricing page as it opens, on annual billing: US prices, read 24 October 2026. Each paid plan includes a set number of Active Contacts a month, then charges per extra person.

Paying yearly saves 18% to 30%, and locks you in

Every annual card prints its yearly total and discount, as of October 2026: $168 for Essential (18% off), $348 for Pro (25% off), and $828 for Business and $1,668 for Advanced (30% off each). Set against twelve monthly payments, my arithmetic puts the saving at:

  • Essential: $36 a year.
  • Pro: $120 a year, $468 billed monthly against $348.
  • Business: $360 a year.
  • Advanced: $720 a year, $2,388 against $1,668, the biggest saving in dollars on the page.

Annual plans also pay less for each extra contact: $0.082 on Essential, $0.038 on Pro, $0.018 on Business and $0.0028 on Advanced, between 18% and 30% under the monthly rates. Those overages still arrive every month, because Manychat counts Active Contacts monthly "even if you're on an annual plan".

Manychat's help center says "Annual plans cannot be downgraded until the current annual term ends", and an annual plan cannot move to monthly before then either. The other direction is open any time: switch from monthly to yearly and Manychat applies the unused part of your monthly payment.

Go yearly once your contact count has held steady for a few months. Not before.

Manychat's pricing page with monthly billing selected, read 24 October 2026, showing Essential at $17, Pro at $39, Business at $99 and Advanced at $199 a month, each card offering a lower monthly price if billed annually.
The same plans billed monthly: Essential $17, Pro $39, Business $99, Advanced $199 (US prices, 24 October 2026).

What an Active Contact is, and how the bill grows with your list

Manychat's pricing FAQ puts the rule plainly: "One person = one Active Contact for the month." Send someone one message or forty and they count once. The details come from Manychat's Active Contacts article, last edited 27 August 2026:

  • Messages in either direction count. Automations, AI replies, Broadcasts and Inbox conversations all make a person active, whoever sent the message.
  • Followers are a different number. Manychat says "your follower count is not the same as your Active Contact count"; a person becomes active when they DM you, comment on a post, reply to a story or engage with an automation.
  • The count resets each billing cycle, on the date you subscribed, even on annual plans.
  • Quiet contacts cost nothing to keep. Stored contacts who exchange no messages don't count, and imported contacts count only once they send or receive a message through Manychat.
  • One person on two channels may count twice. Manychat says they "may be counted separately depending on how those accounts are connected".

Going over switches nothing off. Your automations keep running, and the extra people land on your next bill at your plan's rate. Manychat alerts you at 70%, 90% and 100% of the allowance, and warns that an account growing "well beyond your plan's maximum cap without upgrading" may eventually see automations pause.

You can set a ceiling. A "Set your contact limit" option under Settings, Billing, Subscription lets you refuse overages or cap how many extra people you pay for. Past that threshold, automations run only for contacts already active that cycle, so a first-time commenter gets no automated reply. And if you upgrade within the same cycle, the pricing FAQ says the overage so far is forgiven.

Manychat's comparison table row for additional Active Contacts, read 24 October 2026, showing $0.10, $0.05, $0.025 and $0.004 per extra contact on monthly Essential, Pro, Business and Advanced plans, and $0.082, $0.038, $0.018 and $0.0028 on annual plans.
What each extra Active Contact costs past your plan's allowance, on monthly and annual plans. Manychat pricing page, read 24 October 2026.

Below Advanced, each plan stops being the cheapest one at a predictable number of people.

On monthly billing, as of October 2026, extra contacts on Essential and Pro cost more than included ones: Essential's $0.10 per extra person tops its own allowance rate ($17 for 250 is $0.068 each), and Pro's $0.05 is about three times Pro's own allowance rate. Essential, Pro and Business each have a turning point where the next plan up costs less. My arithmetic puts them here:

  • Essential to Pro at 470 active contacts. $17 plus 220 extra people at $0.10 equals Pro's $39.
  • Pro to Business at 3,700, where 1,200 extra at $0.05 take $39 to $99.
  • Business to Advanced at 11,500. Another 4,000 people at $0.025 lift Business from $99 to Advanced's $199, and every contact past that widens the gap.

Yearly plans turn a little earlier, at about 430, 3,550 and 11,390. If metered billing is new to you, here is how usage-based software pricing works in general.

Channels and seats can force the choice before the contact count does. Essential cannot connect WhatsApp, SMS or email, and Pro stops at three channels and three Inbox seats.

The Free plan covers 25 people a month

Free costs $0 and needs no card, as of October 2026. Every Free account now runs on this version, including accounts opened before 2 March 2026; Manychat's Free plan article says all of them "have already been moved". Here is what it gives you:

WhatsApp, SMS and email; collecting emails and phone numbers; the follower check

Twenty-five people. One Reel with a comment keyword can get there before lunch.

Free has no per-person rate to fall back on, and none of the Manychat pages I read say what happens to the 26th person in a month. Use Free to build and test a flow, and move to Essential before you point a real campaign at it.

Essential and Pro are where most creators land

Essential is the first paid step: $17 a month, or $14 billed yearly, for 250 Active Contacts, as of October 2026. It keeps Free's two social channels and lifts the limits that get in the way of collecting leads.

Automations become unlimited. You can capture emails and phone numbers, check whether someone follows you before a flow continues, start flows from Instagram, Messenger and TikTok ads, and send leads to Google Sheets. The branding line goes. Two users can log in, but Essential has one Inbox seat and cannot add another, and it comes with a 14-day free trial.

Pro is $39 a month, or $29 billed yearly, for 2,500 Active Contacts. Use all 2,500 and each one costs about 1.6 cents on monthly billing, against 6.8 cents on Essential, by my arithmetic. What Pro adds:

  • A third channel, picked from seven, since WhatsApp, SMS and email join the four social networks. Manychat's Pro article says "If WhatsApp is already a key channel for your business, Pro is the right starting point."
  • Broadcasts, excluding Instagram and TikTok, and pre-approved WhatsApp templates.
  • Manychat AI, covered below.
  • Zapier, Make and API access alongside Google Sheets, plus HubSpot, Klaviyo, Mailchimp, Stripe and PayPal connections among others.
  • 3 users and 2 Inbox seats, with a third seat at $25 (Manychat prints no billing period for it).
  • Up to 10k emails and a 14-day free trial.

Wiring Manychat into Zapier or Make adds a second bill on that tool's own meter. Zapier pricing explained and Make pricing explained cover those.

Manychat AI comes with Pro, but its reply tools work only on Instagram and are still in beta.

On the current plans, Manychat AI is part of Pro, Business and Advanced. Free and Essential get none of it, and no Manychat page I read on 24 October 2026 prints a separate AI price, message allowance or usage cap. The Pro card describes teaching the AI "about your business and tone of voice" so it can answer DMs and FAQs, reply to positive comments and steer conversations toward your goals.

The help center adds three limits. AI Replies, AI Comments and AI Goals are "currently available only for the Instagram channel", and Manychat says "Manychat AI is currently in beta. Some capabilities are limited." The AI also steps in only when no other automation handles the message. Older accounts may still see a separate Manychat AI add-on, which sits outside the free trial and is billed immediately if you add it; Manychat does not publish its price.

Business and Advanced: seats, routing and the cheapest overage

Business is $99 a month, or $69 billed yearly, for 7,500 Active Contacts, as of October 2026. It is the team plan. Channels become unlimited, five users can log in with three Inbox seats included and room for five, and conversations can be assigned to teammates automatically, which Manychat calls lead routing. Priority support, Inbox team analytics, 20 custom labels and up to 30k emails come with it. There is no free trial.

Advanced is $199 a month, or $139 billed yearly, for 25,000. It has Business's features with 10 users, five Inbox seats included (up to 10) and up to 100k emails. Its overage is the lowest on the page: $0.004 per extra contact on monthly billing and $0.0028 on yearly, and Manychat says the rate falls further with higher usage. No trial here either. Manychat calls Advanced "the highest standard tier available" and offers a custom plan for more volume.

Between these two sits the biggest trap on the page. Business charges $0.025 per extra person, six times Advanced's rate. At 25,000 active contacts a month, Business on monthly billing comes to $99 plus 17,500 extra people at $0.025: $536.50, by my arithmetic. Advanced covers the same 25,000 for $199.

Manychat's full comparison table, read 24 October 2026, showing Inbox seats included at 1, 1, 2, 3 and 5 across Free, Essential, Pro, Business and Advanced, extra Inbox seats at $25 on Pro, Business and Advanced, and maximum users of 1, 2, 3, 5 and 10.
Seats and users by plan: extra Inbox seats are $25 each on Pro and above, and Manychat does not print a billing period for them. Read 24 October 2026.

WhatsApp and SMS cost extra; email comes with the plan

WhatsApp starts on Pro, and its message fees come on top of the plan. Manychat's WhatsApp pricing guide (edited 7 October 2026) says Manychat charges for each template message delivered, priced by category and by the recipient's country code. Since 1 October 2026 it also charges for service messages, the free-form replies sent inside the 24-hour customer service window, once a business number passes 1,000 of them in a calendar month. Messages people send you are free, and each charge comes out of your Manychat Wallet as the message is delivered.

MarketMarketing templateUtility templateService message
North America (United States, Canada)$0.0287$0.0039$0.0034
United Kingdom$0.0730$0.0253$0.0220
Mexico$0.0456$0.0098$0.0085

Manychat's WhatsApp pricing guide, US dollars per delivered message, effective 1 October 2026, read 24 October 2026. Service messages are free up to 1,000 per business number each calendar month; the full table covers 46 markets.

Meta publishes its own list for the same date, and the two tables differ. As of October 2026, Manychat's published template rates are about 15% higher than Meta's own list rates: in North America, $0.0287 against Meta's $0.025 for a marketing template, and $0.0039 against $0.0034 for a utility one. Service messages match at $0.0034. That gap is my comparison of the two published tables; Manychat's guide does not explain it.

The Wallet sits apart from your subscription and cannot pay for it. Auto-refill is off by default, and automations pause if the balance drops below the cost of one message, so top it up before a campaign. Messages inside the free entry point window opened by a Click-to-WhatsApp ad cost nothing. A separate guide compares Meta's own WhatsApp agent and the other routes for automating the channel itself.

SMS runs through your own Twilio account, and email comes in fixed allowances.

Manychat does not bill SMS. You connect your own Twilio account, and Twilio charges you for each text; a message holds 160 characters, or 70 with an emoji, so a 480-character text is billed as three. SMS and email both need Pro or above, since Essential's channels are social only. Email comes with up to 10k sends on Pro, 30k on Business and 100k on Advanced.

Three worked Manychat bills

Three accounts, priced on Manychat's US list as of October 2026. Every figure is my arithmetic, before tax, and these are illustrative bills, not typical ones.

  1. A creator with 2,000 active contacts a month on Instagram and TikTok. Essential would cost $17 plus 1,750 extra people at $0.10: $192. Pro covers all 2,000 inside its allowance for $39 a month, or $29 a month billed yearly ($348 up front). Pro wins by a mile. The rest of a creator's admin is covered in AI agents for content creators.
  2. A coach with 8,000 active contacts on Instagram, WhatsApp and email. Pro would be $39 plus 5,500 extra at $0.05, or $314. Business is $99 plus 500 extra at $0.025, so $111.50 on monthly billing; on yearly billing it is $69 plus 500 at $0.018, or $78 a month, with $828 paid up front and the $9 overage billed monthly. Add 1,500 appointment reminders a month as utility templates to US numbers: 1,500 x $0.0039 is $5.85 from the Wallet, and fewer than 1,000 service replies cost nothing. Business wins. Coaches have a guide of their own in AI agents for fitness coaches.
  3. A shop with 25,000 active contacts on Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp and email, and five people answering. Business would be $536.50 a month before seats, plus two Inbox seats beyond its three at $25 each. Advanced is $199 with five seats included, or $139 a month billed yearly ($1,668 up front). WhatsApp adds 6,000 order updates as utility templates ($23.40) and 9,000 service replies, of which the first 1,000 are free and the other 8,000 cost $27.20: $50.60 in all. Advanced on monthly billing totals about $249.60. Store owners can read more in AI agents for Shopify store owners.

All three bills teach the same lesson. Past each turning point, the plan one step up costs less than the one below it, even though its sticker price is higher.

Why some sites still say Manychat Pro is $15

Because it was true until 2 March 2026. That day Manychat made its five current plans the default for new accounts, and the old plans kept running for some existing ones. Manychat's help center still documents both:

RulePlans before 2 March 2026Plans since 2 March 2026
What is countedEvery contact you have collected; the count "does not reset every month"Active Contacts in the billing month, reset each cycle
Pro's starting price$15 a month for up to 500 contacts$39 a month, or $29 billed yearly, for 2,500
BillingPro billed monthly onlyMonthly or yearly
Spending limit"payments cannot be capped"An overage cap you set
Free plan1,000 total contacts25 Active Contacts a month

Manychat help center: the Billing FAQ and the legacy Pro pricing-table article (both edited 27 August 2026) for the old plans; the pricing page and current plan articles for the new ones. Read 24 October 2026.

Manychat's own old pricing table climbed from $15 for 500 contacts to $355 a month for 80,000. Because that meter never reset, a big list of people you had stopped talking to kept pushing the price up.

Who is still on the old plans? Every Free account has moved. Some paid accounts opened before 2 March 2026 have not, and Manychat's help pages disagree on whether they can switch yet: the plan articles say the new model is "rolling out country by country", while the Billing FAQ says older accounts "won't be able to switch just yet". If you see an old price, check which model your account is on before you compare it with the table above.

Manychat's community forum shows the confusion. In a post dated 18 January 2026, before the change, a user wrote that "The pricing page says Pro is $15" and that the cart showed a $25 item called Marketing Automation. A community moderator replied the next day that "the PRO plan starts at $15 and goes up according to the number of subscribers you have." Both posts describe the old plans.

One more name you may meet is Elite, a sales-led tier with a Customer Success Manager for "larger creators or brands with over 500k followers". You apply by form, and Manychat publishes no price.

Trials, refunds and cancelling

The rules, from Manychat's pricing FAQ and subscription articles as of October 2026:

  • Trial: 14 days free on Essential and Pro only. You enter a card, and the plan renews automatically unless you cancel. "You can use the free trial once per channel", so an Instagram or Facebook account that has had one cannot start another, even under a different Manychat account.
  • Refund: ask support within 30 days of your first purchase, and Manychat reviews the request. A later upgrade does not reset that clock.
  • Cancelling: only on the website, since the mobile app cannot do it. The plan shows "Pending cancellation" until the period ends, and overages up to then are still charged.
  • App purchases: Apple or Google handles billing and refunds.
  • Payment: Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover, and prices exclude tax.

Meta's messaging rules apply whatever plan you buy

Whatever tool you use, Meta's rules apply, Manychat included, and no plan buys an exception. Outside private replies to comments, an Instagram business can message someone only after that person has messaged it. The reply window is 24 hours from the person's last message, or up to 7 days after a first message sent from a Click-to-Messenger or Click-to-Direct ad. A Human Agent tag opens a separate 7-day window for replies typed by a person.

Comment-to-DM has its own limit. Meta's Private Replies documentation allows "Only one message" to a commenter, sent "within 7 days of the comment", and follow-ups only if the person replies, within 24 hours of that reply. The other approach is drafting comment replies for approval instead, where a person signs off each reply before it goes out.

WhatsApp works the same way, with money attached. Free-form messages can go out only inside an open 24-hour customer service window; outside it a business can send only template messages, which Manychat bills per delivery.

What the same job costs at Chatfuel and LinkDM

Two other DM tools come up in searches for Manychat alternatives. I read each one's pricing page on 24 October 2026:

LinkDM$0: 1 Instagram account, up to 1,000 DMs a monthPro, $19 a month: up to 3 Instagram accounts and 25,000 DMs$182 a yearDMs sent

Each tool's own pricing page, US dollars, read 24 October 2026. Chatfuel adds that "Usage limits apply", and Meta's WhatsApp fees come out of the same Chatfuel wallet.

Three tools, three meters. Manychat counts people a month, LinkDM counts DMs sent, and Chatfuel bundles an AI allowance into the plan. LinkDM automates Instagram, plus Facebook DMs on its free plan, and has no WhatsApp channel. Price your own month on each meter before you compare the sticker prices.

LinkDM's pricing page on monthly billing, read 24 October 2026, showing a free plan for one Instagram account and 1,000 DMs a month, Pro at $19 a month for three accounts and 25,000 DMs, and Platinum+ at $99 a month for ten accounts and 300,000 DMs.
LinkDM's pricing page on monthly billing, read 24 October 2026: it meters DMs sent, not contacts. Pro is $19 a month, or $182 a year.

Which Manychat plan should you pick?

Count the people you talk to in a month, then check the channels you need. US prices as of October 2026:

  • Testing comment-to-DM on one account: Free.
  • Up to a few hundred people a month on two social channels: Essential, at $17 a month or $14 billed yearly.
  • WhatsApp, Manychat AI, or more than about 470 people a month: Pro, at $39 a month. Once your count holds steady, the yearly plan at $29 a month saves $120.
  • A team answering together, or more than about 3,700 people: Business, $99 or $69 billed yearly.
  • More than about 11,500 people: Advanced, at $199 or $139 billed yearly.

Posting is the other half of running social, and it has its own tools and bills. For schedulers and posting assistants, see AI tools for social media, priced.

Weighing a DM flow against software that handles the work around it? Start with what separates an agent from a chatbot.

Manychat answers the DM. Two jobs sit next to it that it was not built for. Gravity, my company, is in public beta: you type the task and an agent built for that job runs it. It does not send Instagram, Messenger or WhatsApp messages, and it is not a chatbot builder. In Gravity's catalog in October 2026, the Inbox assistant sorts your new Gmail each morning into needs you, FYI, can wait and no action, and drafts replies in your voice, so the brand deals and client questions your DMs push into email have a reply waiting; it never sends an email for you. Pain point discovery finds what customers in your market complain about most, with every quote linked to the real post, which helps when you decide what your DM automations should answer first. FAQ

1. How much does Manychat cost?

As of October 2026, Manychat's US prices are $0 for Free, $17 a month for Essential, $39 for Pro, $99 for Business and $199 for Advanced, or $14, $29, $69 and $139 a month billed yearly. Free covers 25 Active Contacts a month, and the paid plans include 250, 2,500, 7,500 and 25,000, then charge for each extra person. Prices exclude tax.

2. Is Manychat free?

Yes. The Free plan costs $0 with no card and covers 25 Active Contacts a month, 2 channels from Instagram, TikTok, Messenger and Telegram, and up to 4 active automations for 1 user, as of October 2026. It adds a 'Powered by Manychat' line to your first message to each contact, and it cannot use WhatsApp, SMS or email.

3. What is an Active Contact in Manychat?

An Active Contact is a person you message, or who messages you, through Manychat in a billing month, and they count once however many messages you exchange. The count resets each billing cycle, even on annual plans. Quiet stored contacts do not count, and imported contacts count only once they are messaged.

4. What happens if I go over my Manychat contact limit?

Your automations keep running, and your next bill adds each extra person: $0.10 on Essential, $0.05 on Pro, $0.025 on Business and $0.004 or less on Advanced on monthly plans as of October 2026, with lower rates on annual plans. Manychat alerts you at 70%, 90% and 100%, and you can set an overage cap, after which only contacts already active that month get automations. Upgrading within the same billing cycle forgives the overage so far.

5. Does Manychat charge for WhatsApp messages?

Yes, on Pro and above. Template messages are charged per delivery, and since 1 October 2026 service replies are too, after 1,000 free per business number each month, paid from the Manychat Wallet. Manychat's North America rates as of October 2026 are $0.0287 per marketing template, $0.0039 per utility template and $0.0034 per service message, against Meta's own list rates of $0.025, $0.0034 and $0.0034.

6. How much is Manychat AI?

On the current plans, Manychat AI is included in Pro, Business and Advanced, with no separate AI price or usage cap printed as of October 2026. AI Replies, AI Comments and AI Goals work on Instagram only, and Manychat labels its AI as beta. Older accounts may still have a separate AI add-on whose price Manychat does not publish.

7. Does Manychat have a free trial?

Essential and Pro have a 14-day free trial that needs a card and renews automatically unless you cancel. Manychat allows it once per channel, so an Instagram or Facebook account that has had a trial cannot start another, even from a different Manychat account. Business and Advanced have no trial.

8. Can I get a refund from Manychat?

Within 30 days of your first plan purchase you can cancel and ask Manychat's support team for a refund, and Manychat reviews each request; a later upgrade does not restart that window.
