On this page

Grok costs $0, $8, $30, $100 or $200 a month as of 22 October 2026, the day I read xAI's pricing pages, its X Subscription docs and its subscription terms. Those are the Free, Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra tiers of The X Subscription, which xAI launched on 12 October 2026. Billed annually, the four paid tiers cost $80, $300, $1,000 and $2,000 a year.

SuperGrok is not on that list. New customers start on The X Subscription, while people already paying for SuperGrok, SuperGrok Heavy or X Premium keep those plans until they choose to switch. Many guides have not caught up: of the seven ranking publisher pages I checked on 22 October 2026 for "grok pricing", "supergrok", "grok subscription" and "grok plans", six still sold SuperGrok as the current plan, one of them dated a week after the change.

Behind the plans is xAI, the SpaceX-owned maker of Grok, whose site now uses the name SpaceXSI. Every Grok price below is in US dollars, before tax, taken from xAI's own pages; the X Premium prices come from X's help centre. Where xAI prints no number, I say so.

TL;DR

Grok pricing in five lines (October 2026)

  1. Five plans: Free is $0, Plus $8, Grok Premium $30, Super $100 and Ultra $200 a month on xAI's pricing page, read 22 October 2026.
  2. Annual billing costs ten months: $80, $300, $1,000 or $2,000 a year on grok.com/plans.
  3. SuperGrok is closed to new buyers. Existing SuperGrok and X Premium subscribers keep their plans, and switching is permanent.
  4. Premium is where Grok Bot and video start; Plus is xAI's pick for social creators with light AI use.
  5. Costs sit outside the plan. The Grok API, third-party models in Cursor and top-ups each bill on their own.

How I read the prices

On 22 October 2026 I read x.ai/pricing with its Individual, Teams and API tabs, grok.com/plans in both billing states, xAI's X Subscription docs and its Bundled Subscription Terms, last updated 7 October 2026. x.ai/pricing showed US dollars from a US connection and from an Indian one, with identical prices on every load. The two price pages behave differently, and that decides which number you see:

  • x.ai/pricing has no billing toggle. It shows monthly list prices only.
  • grok.com/plans opens on Monthly and shows the annual prices once you select Annual. From an Indian connection it showed some tiers in local currency, so I quote the US render.
  • The big monthly numbers on grok.com/plans are first-month offers. On 22 October 2026 Premium showed "$15" with "50% off for 1 month, then $30 monthly", and Super and Ultra showed half-price first months at $50 and $100, with no end date. Budget on the list price, because that is what renews.

Several xAI pages still say SuperGrok. The Grok product page at x.ai/grok still says "Get SuperGrok", and the Grok docs overview mentions "Paid SuperGrok plans". The pricing page and the X Subscription docs offer new customers only The X Subscription, so I took plan prices from those two and grok.com/plans.

Grok plans at a glance

Five individual plans plus Teams and Enterprise, in US dollars, read 22 October 2026. The usage column is xAI's own wording, because xAI publishes no message, image or video counts for any tier.

PlanMonthlyAnnualUsage, as xAI states itWhat it adds

Teams$30, $100 or $200 a seatNot shown4-50x PlusSAML/OIDC SSO, centralized billing, mixed seat types

Monthly prices from x.ai/pricing; annual prices from grok.com/plans (Annual view, US prices) and xAI's X Subscription pricing doc; usage and features from the x.ai/pricing compare grid and plan cards, with the 1080p line from Super's grok.com/plans card. All read 22 October 2026, US list prices before tax. The compare grid prints Teams as "$30+/user/month".

xAI's pricing page, Individual tab, read 22 October 2026, showing the Free plan at $0, Plus at $8, Premium at $30 marked Most popular and Super at $100 a month, each card with its usage line and first features.
xAI's pricing page, Individual tab, US list prices, read 22 October 2026. Ultra ($200) is off the right edge.

Read the usage column twice. Every multiplier counts from Plus, and Plus is "Basic", with no number behind it. Fifty times an unpublished amount is still unpublished.

Annual billing costs ten months of the monthly price

A year of any paid tier on grok.com/plans costs exactly ten monthly payments, as of October 2026. xAI prints no savings line, so here is the arithmetic.

PlanTwelve months billed monthlyBilled annuallySaving per year
Plus$96$80$16
Premium$360$300$60
Super$1,200$1,000$200
Ultra$2,400$2,000$400

Annual prices from grok.com/plans (Annual view, US prices) and xAI's X Subscription pricing doc, read 22 October 2026. The twelve-month totals and the savings are my arithmetic.

grok.com/plans with Annual billing selected, read 22 October 2026, showing Plus at $80 a year, Premium at $300, Super at $1,000 and Ultra at $2,000, each card with a per-month figure.
grok.com/plans with annual billing selected, US prices, 22 October 2026. The yearly figure is the price; the per-month number is rounded.

Annual billing lives on grok.com/plans; x.ai/pricing sells monthly only. On 22 October 2026 the annual cards also printed per-month figures of $7, $25, $84 and $167, and only Premium's $25 divides exactly. Read Ultra's card as $167 a month billed annually, which is $2,000 a year.

Ten payments, twelve months. Commit once you know you will still be using Grok in month eleven, because refunds are narrow.

Free: Grok at $0, with limits xAI does not count

Free costs $0 as of October 2026. The x.ai/pricing card lists "Limited Chat requests", "Limited agent requests" and, on X, "Post, reply, and follow". The launch announcement adds "a starter allowance for Cursor's coding agents".

  • Limited, per the compare grid: Chat, image generation and Grok Build all carry that one word.
  • Missing entirely: the grid gives Free no Grok Bot, no video generation and no API access.

How limited is limited? xAI does not say. No number for Free appears on x.ai/pricing, on grok.com/plans, in the pricing and usage-limits docs or in the Grok FAQ. Free also has no card on grok.com/plans; it lives on x.ai/pricing, so the gap on the plans page does not mean the plan is gone.

Plus at $8: an X plan with a slice of Grok

Plus is $8 a month or $80 a year as of October 2026, and xAI recommends it "for social creators with limited AI usage". Most of what it adds sits on X: the "Premium checkmark", "Enhanced creator tools", "Advanced Analytics", paid posting and Articles, with ad-free scrolling on "Some surfaces" only. For tracking who mentions you there, our guide to an AI agent for Twitter mention monitoring covers that job.

On the AI side you get Grok Chat, Voice, Imagine, Build and Cursor, all drawing on a "Shared" pool the grid calls "Basic", plus "Grok API access". API access is access, not credit. xAI's docs are blunt about the rest: "Plus does not include Grok Bot." and "Plus isn't available for teams." Video generation and third-party models in Cursor are missing as well. If Grok Bot or video is why you are here, skip to Grok Premium.

Premium at $30: where Grok Bot and video begin

Grok Premium is $30 a month or $300 a year as of October 2026. xAI marks it "Most popular", recommends it "for new AI users" and gives it "4x" "more usage compared to Plus". This is where the compare grid switches on:

  • Grok Bot, drawing on the same weekly pool as the rest of Grok.
  • Video generation, alongside "Latest Grok models" and "Faster Chat responses" on the card.
  • Cursor's extra rows (cloud agents and automations, Origin, Bugbot) all start here.
  • Third-party models in Cursor at API list price, billed separately.
  • Full X Premium+ benefits on a connected personal X account.

"Cloud agents & automations" is a Cursor row. Grok's own scheduled automations are a separate feature that xAI said in July "are available to everyone", and the pricing pages do not say how they map onto the new tiers.

xAI's plan comparison grid, read 22 October 2026, with seven columns from Free to Enterprise, a usage row running from Limited to Pooled, and video generation and Grok Bot marked as included from Premium upward.
xAI's plan comparison: video generation and Grok Bot start at Premium, API access at Plus. Read 22 October 2026.

Premium bundles what SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+ used to sell separately

xAI's announcement calls Premium "The benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+, previously $90/month combined". That $90 is xAI's figure for the three together. It gives no breakdown, and I am not going to invent one.

The X part I can check. X's help centre lists Premium+ at $40 a month or $395 a year on the web for existing subscribers, as of October 2026, and xAI's docs say "choose Premium or higher to keep your X Premium+ benefits". By my arithmetic, Grok Premium carries those benefits for $10 a month or $95 a year less, with Grok and Cursor in the same bill. Two catches: X's help describes Premium+ as free of ads anywhere on X, while xAI's grid gives Grok Premium ad-free scrolling on "Most surfaces", and the switch cannot be undone.

Super and Ultra: $100 and $200 for a bigger weekly pool

Above Premium, the money buys pool size and priority more than features. xAI recommends Super "for daily agent users" and Ultra "for power users".

Super, as of October 2026
$100 a month or $1,000 a year, with "15x" "more usage compared to Plus".
What Super adds
"Priority model access at peak times"; its grok.com/plans card adds "Create 1080p videos" and "Faster responses & generations".
Video cap
The Grok FAQ says "720p videos automatically fall back to 480p once you hit the 720p cap for your tier". xAI publishes no cap figure.
Ultra, as of October 2026
$200 a month or $2,000 a year, with "50x" "more usage compared to Plus".
What Ultra adds
"Most powerful Chat models" and "Earliest access to all products & models", a row the grid gives only to Ultra and Enterprise (Teams get it by seat tier).
On neither plan
Priority support, which the grid reserves for Enterprise.

Ultra took SuperGrok Heavy's place at the top for less money

On 12 October 2026, launch day, xAI's plans page still listed SuperGrok Heavy at $300 a month, or $3,000 a year. As of 22 October 2026 the top individual tier is Ultra at $200. xAI says "Each comparable new tier provides more usage-per-dollar than the plan it replaces" but prints no figures. Ultra holds the same top slot for $100 a month less than Heavy's 12 October price, and how the two allowances compare is unknown.

What happened to SuperGrok and X Premium

xAI's pricing doc puts the change in two sentences: "New self-serve customers choose from The X Subscription plans. Existing Cursor, SuperGrok, and X Premium plans continue." Here is what those older plans cost on the dates in the last column.

Older planMonthlyAnnualWhere the price comes from
SuperGrok$30$300xAI's plans page, 12 October 2026 (historical)
SuperGrok Plus$100$1,000xAI's plans page, 12 October 2026 (historical)
SuperGrok Heavy$300$3,000xAI's plans page, 12 October 2026 (historical)

X Premium$8$84X help centre, US web price, 22 October 2026
X Premium+$40$395X help centre, US web price, 22 October 2026

SuperGrok prices are what grok.com/plans listed on 12 October 2026, before the new cards appeared; the page no longer shows them, and SuperGrok continues for existing subscribers only. X prices are X's US web prices as of October 2026; X says app-store prices differ.

If you already pay for SuperGrok, nothing changes until you switch

The announcement says so directly: "Nothing changes for existing SuperGrok, Cursor, or X Premium subscribers." Switching is where the rules bite, per xAI's docs:

  • The old plans you select "are cancelled at checkout, and you get an automatic prorated refund for unused time."
  • That refund goes "back to your original payment method", so the new plan "is charged at full price."
  • "The switch is permanent. It can't be undone, and Support can't undo it for you."
  • Cancelling The X Subscription later does not bring the old plans back.
  • Switch on the web. The mobile apps cannot do it yet.
  • If you pay for Cursor through Apple's App Store, xAI can't cancel that subscription for you, "so you could be billed twice". Cancel it with Apple.

Switching also brings "limited-time offers, which you can see in your account billing settings". xAI does not say what they are on any page I read. xAI also does not say whether legacy prices will ever end, which is one more reason to compare line by line before you click.

X Premium's old prices still hold for the people who pay them

X's help centre says X Premium "is now part of The X Subscription". For current subscribers, "your plan, price, and features stay the same until you choose to switch". Watch the word Premium, which now names three plans: X's old Premium at $8, Grok Premium at $30, and X Premium+ at $40, which maps onto Grok Premium or higher (all as of October 2026). The $8 Plus is the tier with the "Premium checkmark". Yes, really.

xAI's docs map the X side like this: Free gets standard X, Plus gets "a checkmark, creator tools, and fewer ads on X", and Premium and up get "full X Premium+ benefits". "Only personal X accounts can be connected." Can a brand-new customer still buy standalone X Premium? xAI's docs say new customers "start on The X Subscription", while X's help still says "Subscribe now with localized pricing starting at $3/month". Checkout sits behind a login, and I have not been past it.

What the sticker price leaves out

The plan buys one pool of usage, shared across Grok and Cursor, that refreshes weekly. Cursor's docs say unused usage "does not roll over", and once the pool runs out you either wait for the refresh or pay for more. As of October 2026, these bill on top:

  • Top-ups, from $5, bought on the web and expiring a year after purchase. xAI says they cost more per action than the usage your plan includes.
  • Claude or GPT inside Cursor, billed "at API list prices from the first use" from prepaid credit, on Premium and up only.
  • The Grok API, billed separately at standard model rates.
  • A Cursor Token Rate for Teams: $0.25 per million tokens on third-party model requests, on top of the API price. Individual plans do not pay it.
  • Tax. "All prices are exclusive of any applicable taxes."

Nothing tops up by surprise: Auto Top-up "only runs after you turn it on". Spend alerts, though, "do not stop usage", so set the monthly spending cap if you buy extra. Our explainer on how usage-based AI pricing works walks through the pattern. xAI's own advice: "If you regularly go beyond your current weekly usage limit, upgrading your plan is likely better value in the long-term."

Teams, Business and Enterprise

xAI's pricing page, Teams tab, read 22 October 2026, showing the Teams card with a Premium seat at $30 a month and its feature list, beside an Enterprise card priced as Custom.
xAI's Teams tab: seats cost the same as the individual tiers ($30, $100 or $200 a seat a month); Enterprise is quote-only. Read 22 October 2026.

Teams seats cost what the individual tiers cost: Premium $30, Super $100 and Ultra $200 a seat a month, as of October 2026. xAI's docs say "Each seat includes the same usage as the matching individual tier," and you can mix seat types. A team "can have one person or many", invites can assign a Free seat, and Plus has no team seat.

Each paid seat keeps its own pool, because "Seats do not share weekly pools". The Teams tab states seat multipliers against Premium, Super "3.5x" and Ultra "12x", so keep those apart from the individual 15x and 50x. xAI's business page still sells the $30 seat as "Business" at "$30 / month per user", and the docs say an old Grok Business plan is "cancelled when you switch and the unused days are refunded."

Enterprise is "Custom", through sales. Over Teams it adds:

  • One usage pool shared across every member.
  • Invoice or purchase-order billing; xAI's payment FAQ sends wire transfers to the Enterprise plan as well.
  • SCIM seat management and audit logs.
  • Priority support, which no other plan in the grid has.

No seat minimum is printed for Teams or Enterprise on any page I read. xAI also claims Teams is "priced lower per seat than older Cursor Teams but now includes 3x more coding usage", a comparison against Cursor's older Teams plan.

The Grok API, for builders

Plus and up include "Grok API access", and no plan includes API credit. In xAI's words, "API usage is billed separately at standard model rates and doesn't draw from your plan's usage pool." Here are the rates per million tokens, as of October 2026:

ModelContextInputCached inputOutputBatch discount
grok-4.7500k$2.00$0.50$6.0020% off
grok-4.31M$1.25$0.20$2.5020% off
grok-build-0.1256k$1.00$0.20$2.00None

xAI's API pricing doc, US dollars per million tokens for prompts under 200,000 tokens, read 22 October 2026. The batch column follows the same page, which says "Models not listed above have no batch discount".

Long prompts cost double, as of October 2026. Once a prompt reaches 200,000 tokens, grok-4.7 bills $4.00 input, $1.00 cached and $12.00 output, and xAI applies "the higher rate for all tokens in the request". Batch takes "20% off standard rates" on grok-4.7, 4.6, 4.5, 4.3 and the grok-4.20 models, while Priority Processing costs "2x". Tools bill on top: Web Search is $5 per 1,000 calls, and X Search $5 per 1,000 posts.

xAI's API pricing page, read 22 October 2026, showing a text model table in US dollars per million tokens for grok-4.7, grok-build-0.1, grok-4.6, grok-4.5 and grok-4.3, with short- and long-context rates.
xAI's API price list per million tokens, read 22 October 2026. API use is billed separately from any plan.

xAI calls Grok 4.7 "the most capable model we've built" and claims it is "Twice as fast, at half the price of comparable models", without naming the comparison. For how it scores in public tests, see how Grok 4.7 ranks on agent benchmarks. API credits, per the Grok FAQ, are non-refundable.

Cancelling, refunds and where you bought it

xAI's terms say plans are prepaid, non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise, and renew automatically. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal, and your plan stays active to the end of the period you paid for. Cancel where you bought it:

Bought onCancel inRefund requests go to
The webYour account settingsxAI's Refund Request form
XXNot stated for The X Subscription; X handles legacy X Premium refunds
Apple App StoreAppleApple
Google PlayGoogle PlayxAI's Refund Request form

From xAI's Bundled Subscription Terms (last updated 7 October 2026), its X Subscription cancel doc and the Grok FAQ, read 22 October 2026. xAI says its team reviews each request; the terms promise a refund only where the law or the regional terms require one, or if X Subscription Corp discontinues a service.

The regional terms set the legal windows:

  • EEA, UK and Switzerland: 14 days to withdraw by writing to support@x.ai, refunded "less the prorated value of your subscription up to the date of your withdrawal notice".
  • Brazil, Mexico and South Korea: 7 days from purchase.
  • Taiwan: 5 days.

Switching from an old SuperGrok, Cursor or X Premium plan refunds its unused time automatically, the refund xAI states most plainly; if you paid through Apple's App Store, Apple decides. Top-ups for third-party models in Cursor are sold by Anysphere, Cursor's company, and are non-refundable except where the law says otherwise.

Buy direct. xAI's FAQ says subscriptions "are only sold directly through X Subscription Corp", the merchant of record, and that accounts bought from resellers "may be suspended or terminated at any time". On the web, xAI's docs list cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link, and some of these work only in certain countries.

Which Grok plan should you pick?

Pick by the one feature you need, then by how often you expect to empty the weekly pool. These prices are as of October 2026:

  • X perks with a little Grok: Plus at $8. You get the checkmark, creator tools and a "Basic" pool, but no Grok Bot and no video.
  • Your first paid Grok, or you want Grok Bot or video: Grok Premium at $30. Move to $300 a year once you know you will keep it.
  • Agents or Cursor every day: Super at $100, xAI's own pick "for daily agent users".
  • Heaviest use and earliest access: Ultra at $200.
  • Already on SuperGrok or X Premium+: compare before you switch. The move is permanent, and the new plan is charged in full on the day you make it.
  • A team: Teams seats at $30, $100 or $200 each, mixed to fit. Move to Enterprise once you need invoices or SCIM.
  • Building on Grok's models: start from the API price list. Tokens bill on their own meter and never touch a plan's pool.

Are you weighing Grok against ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini? Our guide to the best AI subscription covers how Grok compares with the other assistants, and our ChatGPT pricing explainer, Claude pricing explained, Gemini pricing explained and Perplexity pricing explained lay out each vendor's plans the same way.

If the reason you are eyeing a $30 plan is one recurring job, a morning news brief or a sorted inbox, price the job before the bundle. Grok can run scheduled automations itself, and Premium adds Grok Bot. Gravity, my company, takes a narrower route: you pick an agent someone built for that one job, such as the News brief in Gravity's catalog in October 2026, which sends a morning briefing on your topics without repeating stories you have already seen. It is not a chat assistant (here is what separates an agent from a chatbot) and includes no Grok plan. Gravity is in public beta: Basic is free with one agent, and Pro is $5 a month during the beta, as of October 2026. Explore agents

FAQ

1. How much does Grok cost a month?

As of October 2026, Grok costs $0 on Free, $8 on Plus, $30 on Premium, $100 on Super and $200 on Ultra a month, according to xAI's pricing page read 22 October 2026. Billed annually on grok.com/plans, the paid tiers cost $80, $300, $1,000 and $2,000 a year, before tax.

2. Is Grok free?

Yes, the Free plan costs $0 as of October 2026 and includes limited Chat, image generation and Grok Build, limited agent requests and a starter allowance for Cursor. It has no video generation, no Grok Bot and no API access, and xAI publishes no number for its limits.

3. How much is SuperGrok now?

New customers cannot buy SuperGrok: since 12 October 2026 they start on The X Subscription, where xAI says the Grok Premium plan, $30 a month as of October 2026, carries the benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+. Existing SuperGrok subscribers keep their plan and price unless they switch, and switching is permanent.

4. What replaced SuperGrok Heavy?

For new customers, the top individual tier is now Ultra at $200 a month or $2,000 a year, as of October 2026. Existing SuperGrok Heavy subscribers keep their plan unless they switch. On 12 October 2026, xAI's plans page listed Heavy at $300 a month.

5. Is there a Grok free trial?

No free trial appeared on any xAI pricing page I read on 22 October 2026. The US plans page did show a first-month offer of 50% off Premium, Super and Ultra on monthly billing, with no end date printed. xAI's terms say promotional periods renew at the standard fee unless you cancel.

6. Does a Grok subscription include the API?

Every paid plan includes Grok API access, but API usage is billed separately at standard model rates and does not draw from the plan's usage pool, so no plan includes API credit. As of October 2026, grok-4.7 costs $2.00 per million input tokens and $6.00 per million output tokens for prompts under 200,000 tokens.

7. How much is X Premium now?

X's help centre still lists Basic at $3, Premium at $8 and Premium+ at $40 a month on the web, as of October 2026, and says those prices still hold for existing subscribers. X Premium is now part of The X Subscription, where Plus adds the checkmark and Grok Premium at $30 or higher carries full X Premium+ benefits.

8. Can I get a refund on a Grok subscription?

Generally you cannot. xAI's subscription terms say plans are prepaid and non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise, with 14 days to withdraw in the EEA, UK and Switzerland, 7 days in Brazil, Mexico and South Korea, and 5 in Taiwan. Switching from an old SuperGrok, Cursor or X Premium plan refunds its unused time automatically, unless you paid through Apple's App Store, where Apple decides.
