Lindy markets itself as "AI employees" and ships a clean visual flow builder with strong defaults. Most "Lindy alternative" searches start because a buyer hit one of three things: pricing, the canvas being too much for their team, or a missing integration. This shortlist gives the eight strongest alternatives, organised by category so you can shortlist the right two and stop.
I'm Aryan, founder of Gravity. This post includes Gravity because it would be dishonest not to. The framing is category-first, so you can decide whether Gravity fits or one of the other seven does.
Why founders look for a Lindy alternative
From conversations with operators evaluating Lindy:
- Pricing fit. Lindy's pricing scales with usage. Predictable workloads at moderate volume sometimes find a flat monthly bundle easier to budget.
- Visual canvas vs sentence. Teams that want to describe the outcome and walk away find any canvas (Lindy included) heavier than they need.
- Specific stack depth. Buyers whose stack lives in unusual SaaS tools sometimes need a platform with that specific integration.
- Self-hosting. A small but real audience needs to self-host. Lindy does not offer this.
- Enterprise compliance. Larger teams need SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO across geographies. The right pick depends on the framework list.
A category-first framework
Before scanning the shortlist, decide which of these is the dominant constraint:
- Interface: sentence, builder, or workflow?
- Buyer: founder, operator, IT, or enterprise procurement?
- Pricing model: bundled flat, metered, or per-seat?
- Hosting: managed-only or self-host required?
- Integration depth: SaaS-first, developer APIs, or enterprise ERP/CRM?
Each tool below maps to a corner of that space. Pick two that share your constraints and ignore the rest.
The 8-tool shortlist
I have ordered these roughly by closeness to Lindy's buyer (founders and operators), then expanded outward to broader categories. The order is not a quality ranking.
1. Gravity
Category: Sentence-driven agent runtime. Buyer: Founder, operator, SMB. Pricing: Bundled monthly. Pick when: You want to describe an outcome rather than build a flow.
Gravity removes the canvas entirely. The user writes one sentence describing what should happen, and a runtime decides how. Closer to a Lindy buyer than most of this list, but with the opposite interface. See the founder explanation in describe outcome, not workflow.
2. Manus
Category: Autonomous AI agent for tasks. Buyer: Power user, founder. Pricing: Tiered. Pick when: You want a research-and-execute agent for one-off and recurring tasks.
Manus is more "general autonomous agent" than "recurring workflow runtime." It is the right alternative when the work is broad and exploratory rather than tightly scoped. The buyer profile overlaps with Lindy's, the use cases differ.
3. Genspark
Category: Agent-driven search and task platform. Buyer: Power user, founder. Pricing: Subscription. Pick when: Research-heavy automation is the dominant job.
Genspark blends search and agent execution. It is less direct as a Lindy alternative for recurring SaaS-driven work, but the right pick for research-shaped tasks.
4. MindStudio
Category: Visual AI app builder. Buyer: Builder, marketing ops, founder. Pricing: Tiered. Pick when: You like Lindy's canvas idea but want a more granular building experience.
MindStudio replicates the "visual builder for AI flows" pattern with a stronger emphasis on app-shaped outputs. Closer to Lindy in interface than to Gravity in interface, even though the buyer audience is similar.
5. Stack AI
Category: No-code AI builder for teams. Buyer: Mid-market, RevOps. Pricing: Quote-based mostly. Pick when: Your team needs an AI builder with team controls and pipelines.
Stack AI sits closer to mid-market than Lindy. The builder is similar in spirit; the buying motion is more sales-led.
6. Relay.app
Category: Human-in-the-loop workflow automation. Buyer: Small team with approvals. Pricing: Per-seat plus tasks. Pick when: The approval queue is the central feature.
If Lindy felt right but you wanted clearer approval handling, Relay is the closest fit. The product treats human approval as a first-class node.
7. Activepieces
Category: Open-source workflow automation. Buyer: Engineering-led teams. Pricing: Free self-hosted, paid cloud. Pick when: Self-host or OSS is a hard requirement.
Activepieces is the most direct OSS alternative. It is more workflow tool than agent runtime, but the AI pieces close part of the gap.
8. Workato
Category: Enterprise iPaaS with AI. Buyer: Enterprise IT. Pricing: Annual contract. Pick when: You are an enterprise, not a Lindy-shaped buyer.
Workato is here for completeness. If your team is large enough to need an enterprise iPaaS, Lindy was the wrong category to start with; Workato is the right replacement for "the iPaaS" not for "Lindy."
Decision-by-need table
| If you need... | Pick |
|---|---|
| One sentence to describe an outcome, no canvas | Gravity |
| Autonomous research-and-execute, one-off tasks | Manus or Genspark |
| A more granular visual builder than Lindy | MindStudio or Stack AI |
| Strong human approval queues | Relay.app |
| Open-source, self-hosted automation | Activepieces |
| Enterprise-grade iPaaS with AI | Workato |
| The cheapest reliable option at low volume | Activepieces (self-host) or Gravity (bundled) |
| Best fit for a solo founder | Gravity |
Frequently asked questions
Why look for a Lindy alternative?
Common reasons include pricing fit, preference for a sentence-driven interface over Lindy's builder, deeper SaaS integration in a specific stack, or self-hosting requirements that Lindy does not meet.
What is the closest direct alternative to Lindy?
Gravity is the closest by audience (founder, operator, SMB) but differs by interface (sentence rather than visual flow). For a builder-style alternative, MindStudio and Stack AI are closer in interface.
Are open-source alternatives viable?
Yes for teams with engineering capacity. Activepieces and n8n offer open-source AI workflow, but the operating cost is engineering time you would otherwise spend on the product.
Which is cheapest?
Open-source self-hosted is cheapest in software cost (Activepieces, n8n). Among managed runtimes, Gravity's bundled monthly tends to undercut metered platforms at typical recurring volume.
Which alternative is most enterprise-ready?
For enterprise-grade compliance and breadth of integration, Workato remains the deepest. For mid-market with AI in the platform, Tray.ai is a strong pick.
